It was! It looked like this when they were fighting

Beautiful and scary/fearful at the same time! Glad they just skirmished and no one was hurt (except pride). They may settle this way for awhile. I heard the top job can rotate too.

Shocked!

When I moved Niamh to the coop last night the snow on the top of the run was melting like crazy. It was 50°F. The water from.that melt was running down the inside wall of the coop like a waterfall. This is the wall this morning. Their feeder normally hangs here. Interestingly, no water got into their feed.

I have never caulked up every gap when I build a coop as they can provide a little ventilation help. In this instance the water was defying gravity and wrapping around to find a gap and run down the inside of the coop.

So I got a break in the rain and caulked the seam up quick this morning.

More rain is on it's way. I will clear this and redo it in the spring when I have good weather but hopefully this stops water from getting in again this winter.

Maybe because of the wind?
I too have water in places that never get wet and the 60MPH winds that the forecast forgot to mention!

Rain/water is so destructive & frustrating for us. After dealing either w/ cheap or expensive coops, they both leaked on us in the rain ~ using tarps is tedious so finally in the end we built a patio roof over our present coop. Caulking was considered but there's still mildew or warping to consider so we just opted for a patio over the coop. So much $$$ to have safe pets! We all have diverse issues to deal with.

Old coop had to have tarp opened in the morning & tied down at night...we tried a popup canopy over it but it kept parasailing in the hard winds that we get here...cuz we couldn't tie the frame down on cement pavers.

New larger costly barn shed coop still had leaks

New patio & roof over coop & we can gather eggs or check on birds w/o getting rained on which is a plus for me.

The windows are nice to peak in on birds w/o disturbing them.

I really really want a Columbian colored chicken or Light Sussex. I've been hesitant to get a Columbian Wyandotte, or any other Wyandotte, because I regularly read that they can be mean. I've got a enough issues with the Bossy Bresse.
It's good to read that your Wyandotte was sweet.
You're like me... when we researched Wyandottes. It was a 50/50 split from owners about their Wyan temperaments so we crossed them off our personal list too. I mean, any breed can turn up a meany but there are other breeds we felt had more consistent reputations JMO.
