You may start needing to make more than omelets! We have only 4 laying Silkies that keep us in omelets too... but also quiches, eggs & bacon, souffles, buckwheat batter pancakes, waffles from scratch, hard or soft-boiled breakfast eggs, cheesecake, muffins, baked goods, potato salad, etc etc etc... amazing how many pre-packaged/chemicaled/preserved/gluten foods we have avoided having our own eggs to utilize.

For soft or hard-boiled eggs we use our eggie cooker. It takes a couple times getting used to it reading instructions... now I love it 🩷

There are lots of brands that came on the market after EggGenie got popular decades ago. This old one was cheap but it still works.

Now they make stainless steel ones, double-decker ones, etc etc...

I’m hoping some uneducated person doesn’t buy one of those as an incubator!

I'd risk it if the contents look and smell ok.

(Well actually I'd feed it back to the chickens, but mostly because carrying it half a mile home in my pocket would probably end badly without a fully formed & intact shell)
I carried an egg around most of my day yesterday. Forgot it in my pocket. Glad Zxit lays strong shelled eggs!

Had a first egg here too, last weekend, from Grumpy Chick.

She's laid every second day since then. Makes my other green(ish) layer look much more olive in comparison - although sometimes she lays this colour and sometimes more of a pale greyish sage green.

Colorful & a good way to identify who layed which egg.

I quite often find eggs in my pockets 🤦‍♂️

Colorful & a good way to identify who layed which egg.
Maybe not for much longer with another five Shetland pullets likely to start laying soon! Some might lay different colours though.

I have been thinking. (Which could be dangerous)
My nutritionist gave me a list of foods best for renal patients.
I went to the supermarket s and bought the most expensive filet mignon steaks, and vegetables, pesto, fresh fruits, canned albacore tuna, shrimp, and .. you get the idea. I want to live and eat like a king, following the prescribed diet and exercise. I will be sure to make enough leftovers for everybody 🐓🐓🐓🐓
Search out all you can in organic products/produce & grass-fed meats. Artificial fertilizers plus pesticides are in so much today! The USDA organic certified products if you find them. Supermarkets are starting to be more aware of providing organics. All fresh produce we give the chickens is organic.

Leaving possible toxic substances on others property, can be charged with domestic terrorism 👮‍♂️
FYI
Yes that was it. Someone had thrown pasta laced with mothballs over the fence at Featherheads house. I'm so sorry for the lack of context in the BFTP. I just thought it was funny - your response, not the attempted poisoning! That was infuriating.

Even with a good shell I have had pocket mishaps. I now use a large egg crate to carry to the house.

19 today so a large flat one

Good Lord! Whats wrong with a pan and some water? I am clearly behind the times!

Another lovely dark egg from Gisele and one with heavy bloom. Didn’t get another light one…. I have no idea who lays what anymore.

Anywho the dark egg today had this weird fleshy part on it, thought it was membrane so left it and it had dried out somewhat,

but I picked at it (yes that’s we do isn’t it? Pick at things we likely shouldn’t), and the material came off. Looks like the shell didn’t form in that location. But the inner membrane is intact.

Is it safe to eat do you think?
Interesting production glitch.
I wouldn’t eat it raw, but personally I would eat it cooked and not worry about it at all.
