Pepper-Larry is a big talker, she lets me know everything that went on while I was at work 😁

Our Dominiques were very quiet flockmates but when they saw us we carried on 2-way conversations w/them. They do love to converse & interact w/ their human even as chicks ❣️

I know that our birds won’t live forever, and death is a part of life, but Our Bridge? This lovely lady is seriously going to be missed.
I remember the song you sang to her one day “🎼 Bridgee, Bridgee, you’re the hen for me. I love my Bridgee….” This makes me cry now. So very Sorry for the loss of sweet Bridge. She was the same age as my Rocksanne. Rest in the arms of angels little lady.
I remember that song too.
❤️

Yep

And his ‘prediction’ for an early Spring was a dismal failure! This year’s prediction for an early Spring will also be incorrect. We’ll have snow up till April likely.
Snow really makes a small window for gardening ☹️

I'd miss my year-round gardens & citrus trees

Hello. Some of you know that it used to be a very active member on this thread. I just can’t keep up these days and I’m not on BYC as much as I used to be. Those of you who know me might remember that my dear Barred Rock, Bridge, was my oldest and dearest hen. She died at 12:35 AM today. May she rest in peace.

Here she is in all her glory. I’ll add a photo of her little grave at the end.

Fly high beautiful Bridgee. 😍

I am truly sorry for your loss. :hugs:hugs:hugs

Your help needed with Piglet.
Ever since the fox attack that took Mr. Chips there has been something off about Piglet.
Remember I found some of her feathers at the crime scene so I think she was maybe attacked but got away.
I examined her for wounds and found none. I figured it was stress from the attack and from seeing Mr. Chips taken.
Then it got very, very cold and she seemed more bothered by the cold than anyone else.
She would spend most of the day all fluffed up and sitting in a hollow in the straw doing nothing.
She always roosts, always eats breakfast, and then just sits and watches while everyone else is busy exploring the straw.
She had lost 9% of her body weight from October 10 to now. But she has food in her crop at night (maybe not enough but not empty), and not in the morning.
I thought she was shaking her head a lot and examined her face, throat, and nares but didn’t see anything odd. I failed to get a good look at her ears.
I am away at the moment but got this close up video of her this afternoon on one of the cameras.
Sorry for the length but I would appreciate if anyone spots something I am missing.

Magnesium before bedtime, no caffeine tea/coffee/cola after mid-day, & no TV/computer late night helps to calm the brain/body down for sleep. Lately I use a topical analgesic for neck/hip pain so it doesn't interfere w/ sleep either.
I'll be looking up analgesic.

Could she have scratched ear awkwardly? She seems very alert.

Hopefully she settle soon, she had a heck of a nasty shock.
