no cats but 3 kiddos that i fear would unplug it to plug in something else.....and hubby keeps bedroom below 60 so not much difference than where it is in the shed.
Do you have a power strip so that IF they need to plug in there will be several options to plug in instead of using your spots. I also got a small plug in alarm in case the granddaughter unplugged it again.

i moved it into brooder box and the temp has stabilized! my hygrometer is still reading about 3* low but meat thermometer is staying 99-100. i candled each egg tonight and I can see development in all but 2. the 2 that i can’t see as well are the BA and the welsummer. the welsummer shell is too dark and the BA looked like a possible blood ring. will hopefully be able to tell more at day 10-14.

I did a quick candle on cream legbar eggs under my broody. Definite development in 2 of the 7. A couple look pretty yellow, so I suspect not fertile, a few look nice and orange, but I couldn’t really find blood vessels. Hopefully I see more development in a few more days. At least the other hens aren’t trying to lay with her....yet.

Well this is disappointing, but not that surprising as my flock is still pretty young. Only one of my four eggs is fertile. :barnie:barnie:barnieI really hope it hatches, but with only one egg the odds aren't astronomical. And then if it does hatch I might have to scramble around to find another chick to be its friend. If you have a broody with only one chick is it still necessary to get a second chick? My parents are not very excited about that idea...:hmm

If it's being raised by a broody, a single chick should be fine. It has its mama to keep it company
