My first keet hatched during the night 2days early He fell over the side of the grid in the incubator and died. I buried him this morning. I have 2 more starting to peck. I was told it would take a while to hatch out. I had no idea it would hatch so quickly and during night. Not to mention everyone says to leave them in the incubator to dry off and incourage the others. You can bet I will be watching closely the next few days .Excited but sad

Sorry to hear you lost one. Best wishes that all goes well for the remaining!

2 more hatched One seemed to have a hard time .He was stuck to the shell was afraid to help. I just kinda encouraged him out by turning the egg a little so he could crawl out better. Still a little worried he doesn't seem to be as active as the other one. Hopefully he'll be better later today.

Fingers crossed! :fl

Well... I'm out. :th The chick must've pipped and started cheeping earlier today, because my broody killed it. :hit I checked on her this morning when I let the other chickens out and everything was fine... came back an hour and a half later to find the egg pecked into a pancake. :he Needless to say I will never let her go broody again. I'm pretty shocked but I knew this was a possibility from the beginning. She's a BCW Polish so she's not a broody breed at all.
I brought the chick up to the house and got it out of the egg. This is the first time we've ever tried to hatch chicks and I didn't think I would cry but when I saw its feet I did. It was half silkie so it had five perfect little toes. :hit Today was either day 19 or 20 and it was perfectly formed and so cute. In pictures it looks a bit dark but in person it's definitely blue. I'm really bummed. We decided to name it Boo. Going to bury it under the rosebushes this evening. :hit:hit:hit
