Love to try quail but the chickens keep me going around here.
Quail lay up to 300 eggs a year! They start to lay at 6-8 weeks. Some of them are quite friendly, and they come in a great variety of colors and patterns. Plus they don't "count" in the chicken population... quail math!

Plus, in some places where chickens are outlawed, quail are ok!

Update on the last egg. It’s alive.
Went to clean up a bit in brooder and it has pipped. :wee
A few days late but.....

There's still hope! :woot
 
There sure is. If the other hadn’t pipped wrong that would have been a 100 % hatch shipped eggs.
