I have been free rangeing only takes a 50 lb sack of corn scratch grain and layer pellets every two weeks or so .Getting colder now less for them to eat will need to buy more often. Then I am adding to the flock .I really enjoy it so nothing else matters. It's something for me and my granddaughter both do. She is only 7 and wants to be a vet .We have the acreage so why not make it a farm. Got an incubator and now we are hatching eggs. Turning the unused she'd into coops fencing the yard off. I can't wait till spring already. It's kinda hard to find eggs right now.

So came back to 4 more chicks. 13 of 16 so far. One more has pipped. One isn’t doing anything and no chirping either fraid it’s gone. The one that pipped a vein did die. So I might end up with 14. Super excited about the hatch. That was one ugly trip they had from the PO.
There is 13 in here the other is still in the incubator hoping to hatch.

Well so far my eggs are good still have four they are all moving in there it’s getting harder to see them wife keeps telling me I’m going to kill our poor little chickies but I tell her it’s ok I gotta check them to make sure all is good. On day 15 now so one more candling before hatch day which is the 1st then I have another set of yellow birchen eggs that I will start on the 3rd I think so thanksgiving week hatch I’m super stoked

Well I have my 1st hatch. Now I am putting my turkey eggs in and on the 1st I will add 10 chicken eggs so they will all be hatching thanksgiving week. My chickens won't know what's going on when I start adding to the coop .I have had the same chickens for a couple years now. I never thought I would love my chickens so much when I first started. Now I am hooked The plan is to get enough of chickens turkeys and guinea fowl to sell eggs myself
I sold a load of guinea keets this year, almost as fast as i could hatch them!

What type of eggs are you looking for?

I have 6 14 week old chickens,3 12 wk turkey poults, 14 8 week silkies, and 6 6 wk old EE. They are going through over 1 gal water and 7 pounds of feed + scratch and treats every day and still act starved!:idunno
Are you feeding game bird feed? Growing birds need high protein.

If you are considering hatching quail, purely poultry had eggs available. I received my 2 dozen quickly and with free shipping! I’ve found that chicken egg varieties are becoming more limited as the weather gets colder.
