I cracked 3 eggs to see if there was any live left. One is alive but it is a crossbeak and still has some blood so it's in the incubator. I don't have much hope it'll hatch. I noticed in the 13 chicks, one of them is crossbeak. Between them hatching a day early and so many eggs not hatching, I think it's more than just humidity. I think the preset temp is high too.

The last chick is out of it's shell. I had to help it out but its out now. I don't know if it'll be strong enough to live. It's a crossbeak too. Here's a picture.

does your incubator allow for temp calibration? I calibrated mine and double checked temp throughout using both auxiliary thermometer and meat probe thermometer. preset calibration was about 2 degrees off, and auxiliary ranged from 2-5 degrees off. I made manual adjustments from the calibration to keep the meat probe between 99 and 100. I did not remove the meat probe thermometer until active hatching to prevent possible injury to chicks. doing same with quail eggs.

I have a Hovabator Genesis with the preset digital thermostat. Yes it can be adjusted. I figured since they were hatching a day early both hatches I've done, then I'd need to adjust .5 or a full degree lower to see if that helps.

This new baby is very active and kicks around a lot. If it thrives it'll move in with the other chicks. I hope it does, I hate to see anything waste away and die. :hit
