I'm so Jealous right now. I have to wait till Thanksgiving till i get see Beeba Chickies. Congrats on every bodies hatches though.

I have a Hovabator Genesis with the preset digital thermostat. Yes it can be adjusted. I figured since they were hatching a day early both hatches I've done, then I'd need to adjust .5 or a full degree lower to see if that helps.

I’d try it and see if that helps. Sadly it’s a trial and error thing. Hope your chicks do ok. I thought crossbeak was because of high temps too, but my one and only ever crossbeak was hatched under a broody this spring. She is still alive and well, but smaller than her siblings. Her beak is bent to one side too. She hates letting me take pics of her lol

I think you could shape by trimming regularly, but it would always be crooked.

I’ll try to get a better pic tomorrow. It actually bends to the side starting back at the base. The whole beak bends. I have trimmed it once, I honestly didn’t expect her to live so long. But she seems to do ok, so I’ve left her be. Maybe I should try trimming it again.

But at what cost then if it just meant mild trim okay but you said she is fine how is she about the fuss

I hatched 2 out of the first 6 ()
