Hello I’m Freida
I’ve had my own backyard chickens for the last two years, however I’ve looked after and cared for chickens since I was about 9 (I’m 18).
Currently I have 6 hens, 2 chicks (female) and 2 cockerels that live at my grandad’s house (as we have a semi detached house)
My oldest chicken is a white Silkie, names Princess Layer (I know, I know), she’s just over two years old! I then have a ‘mottled’ pekin (she’s literally just black ) called Betty-Rose, another ‘mottled’ pekin cockerel (also just black) called Bellachick (named him as a baby), and a lavender pekin named Raja. I then have two younger (only by a couple weeks) pekins, one silver partridge called Alaska, and one golden partridge called Jinkx, then I have two identical Sebrights (black and white) called Patsy and Edina! My latest addition is a little welsummer chick called Epponnee-Rae and an Araucana chick named Lil Dipper (my sister named her )

One of my favourite things about having backyard chickens is having a motivation to do something I love renovating their coop and making sure it looks nice and I also love cleaning them and pampering them it provides me with a lot of emotional support (I know sounds crazy)
Aside from being chicken mad I am also a keen horse rider and I LOVE dogs! I also really love drawing and doing art!
I currently live with my parents and my younger sister, my dad helps with the chickens sometimes which is great! I have two dogs, a Yorkshire terrier names Honey and a little Cavalier King Charles named Cedric!
I found BYC when looking for advice on bumble foot, and I would like to share my knowledge and also get more advice for my chickens!
