Pics would help.
It hasn't been built yet but I can show you some pictures of the coop it will attach to if you want, later. Currently I don't have any but I plan on having 4x4s 8 feet wide with 2x4s connecting them and then adding hardware cloth and a tarp on top. I was just wondering if there were any better ideas on what I could use as a roof that's strong, and predator proof

On my old run I used netting, after a few years, like 10, it was all falling apart. Not just the netting, everything was  well we tore it down and built a new one, we used metal and plastic sheets to make a slanted, water proof, and predator proof roof.
Here is a pic from google maps, the coop is that tiny one next to the car.

Do you get snow in the winter? If so I would avoid a flat roof. If you don’t get snow then hardware cloth covered by a taught tarp will probably work though you still may want a bit of a pitch so the water runs off.

We are going to build a covered run but have to plan for snow. So we plan to use a pitched metal roof so that the snow will slide off the back and put a solid fence on that side to keep the snow from getting into the run portion too.

Do you want the whole thing covered? I might do half the run covered, the other half with just hardware cloth or even chicken wire. Tarps are rather expensive these days, so you might look into other roofing materials by asking at your local home & garden store.
All of it I want to be covered probably with hardware cloth and most of it I want there to also be a rain protector for them so they don't get wet.
