I would love to get some of the other colors. I currently have Buff but don't know of anyone working with the newer colors.

what! are they retiring ? I got my am blues from him and my African buffs and browns . I love his geese.Holderread’s website states that the 2020 breeding season will be their last for shipping duckings and goslings. I ordered a pair of Blue and Lavender Ice American goslings in 2019, and am so glad that got them when I did.
That said, I am hoping there are other folks with these same geese for possible gosling or egg exchanges if a need arises; replace lost flock members (fortunately not a problem I’ve had with my birds) or to add new DNA to the gene pool.
Who else out there is raising these geese?
It’s not clear if they are retiring totally or just not selling chicks. They’ve been getting out of the different breeds, and I’ve always been one step behind them. They try to be helpful in directing to whoever the best source for their birds are in your area. I had some exchanges in the fall with them so I placed my chick order in December knowing this was coming. I know Metzer buys their breeders, and 2 breeders in Canada based their large flocks on their breeders, both of which sell birds in the US at least 1x/year at the Ohio National.what! are they retiring ? I am new to this site and unfortunately am late to the game for purchasing Holderread birds. Are any of you breeders of the lavender ice American buff geese? Do you know of anyone who is breeding them. I took it upon myself to inquire MetzerFarm on this. They do not plan to continue this color variety.
I have Buffs but would be interested in getting some of these other colors in the future.
Thank you so much for the offer. I will be in contact with you. So far you are the only person I know who has lavender. Next season maybe just right for me. Great Falls, MT? Best of luck with your pairs. I appreciate your response.I have both a blue and lavender goose (and the ganders to match), and while they have both been laying eggs since March, neither of them is sitting on their nests. I doubt I will get any goslings from them this year, but could probably ship a few eggs if you have the ability to incubate? If you don’t, hit me up later this year or early 2021 if you’re still interested...considering trying my hand at incubation.
I will say that these birds are extremely well tempered, and very pretty. They are a little testy right now with it being breeding season and all, but all that’s really amounted to is some hissing when I collect eggs from the nest. It was also a behavior I’d been anticipating. Despite that, I wouldn’t trade my little flock of geese for anything. They’re really a wonderful bird to have around the wee homestead.
I purchased a breeding pair of Lavender Ice Americans from Holderread and got them as hatchlings in June 2020. I have successfully just hatched out two from them and have more in the incubator. I would definitely be open to a new male of the same at some point for more bloodlines.Holderread’s website states that the 2020 breeding season will be their last for shipping duckings and goslings.
