It looks like the membrane is pulling away from the shell. I hope it’s not wrapping the chick. I’m just going to keep an eye on it.

Ok, he’s in the same spot and is just making a gaping hole. I’m going to give it another hour before I get concerned?

I'd give it longer than that. He might just be punching around a bit and enlarging the pip, not actually zipping. Waterfowl seem to do that a lot.

Ok, he seems to be just shoving his bill out to get off big pieces but hasn’t actually turned. I think you’re definitely right. The membrane on the bottom is slightly yellow so I’m going to check every once in a while.
