how's it going? we're waiting for news and photos!
It's been a really long day! So far 6 hatched and at there's still at least 5 more pips.. but it's hard to keep track now that chick soccer has begun and eggs are rolling around.

First zip of the day

This was one of the first to pip and only just hatched, about 24 hours later. I was starting to worry the membrane was dried out and it wasn't going to make it! I'm not sure what color pattern is. Can't wait to see once it's fluffed out!

Day 13 for the current 17 Barnyard mix eggs. They all look very strong. I expect all should make it to lockdown. :ya

I ordered 2 dozen hatching eggs. They’ll arrive the week after this hatch is complete. 3 of the 4 breeds or varieties I’m getting are autosexing or sexlinked: Welsummer, Legbar, and F2 Olive eggers. That will be fun. The remaining eggs will be Silverudd’s. The best part is they’re only coming from 180 miles away! I probably would have made the drive if fuel wasn’t so darn expensive.

Six surprise chicks yesterday 😃 I knew the hen was broody somewhere but hadn’t managed to track down her nest. I found it when she took the chicks back yesterday evening. There were 10 eggs there which I candled an they’re all at various stages of development so it seems another hen was coming and adding eggs to the nest. I stuck them in the incubator and one has pipped.😃
