Day 20 sucks..I never got that excited as a kid for Christmas.. but as an adult when I incubate..it's so thrilling I sit the incubator in the living room and look in at it (not opening)..hubby probably thinks I'm crazy

I love hearing everyone's progress and successes so far.

Day 18 started at midnight CDT and lockdown has begun!

I did a little more reading and confirmed with the breeder that Icelandics tend to hatch on day 20 rather than 21! So now I'm getting really excited/antsy here waiting to hear the first peep or see egg movement.

Yes!!! It never gets old.

I think days 1-4 (or 7) to check and see development then days 18-21 are the longest of the whole thing. In another 3.5 hrs I will be on day 3 and it has felt like a week!!

They love dirt... meanwhile my black hen looks as clean as can be..

Right? all of them are clean as can be except my white Ameraucanas

I wanted ameraucanas but of course they were Easter eggers. Only one has muffs. At least she is black

Candled tonight, day 3. Saw life in FOURTEEN eggs! Some were too dark for sure to see anything definitive. Soooo excited!

Well it looks like I will be joining up. Another one of my hens just went broody; she will be my 8th hen to go broody in the last 2 months! So I figured I will let her hatch. Planning to give her some eggs on Friday, just from my own flock so they should be Swedish Flower with the possibility of a few Swedish/Buff Orp mixes.
