Hey everyone!
So, I will explain everything that happened with huge details.

I was gonna let my duck swim in her tub yesterday, which is in the backyard, i have three chihuahua dogs, as i was cleaning her tub, one of the chihuahuas bit my duck on the left side of neck and chest, he didn’t shake her neck, the attack lasted about 2 seconds because i yelled at him, as soon as this happened my duck fell on her back and started panting, i honestly thought she was gonna die because i noticed some blood on her chest and a little bit less on her neck, she kept panting for hours, i thought she was gonna die in any second, i was home alone and there was no way i could take her to the vet so i couldn’t do anything but expecting for the worst thing to happen.

My mom arrived 2 hours after the attack occurred and she was still panting, so my mom asked me to bring the tub to where she was and we helped her take a bath and she stopped panting after that.

She was unable to move her whole body, if she tried to move she would fall on her back, on the front and on the sides, she was unable to drink or eat, but thankfully, six hours after the attack she started drinking water by her own, and 8 hours after the attack she started eating again, she fell asleep all night and i kept her in my bed with lots of pillows surrounding her because i was afraid she would break her neck if i left her alone, so today, i noticed she’s not falling over anymore, she can stand up, she still loses a little bit of her balance when she tries to pluck her chest feathers.
I also forgot to mention that i checked the wounds and cleaned them, and as i was checking them i didn’t notice any big wounds, the neck wound was so small, and the chest wound was small as well, but no inner flesh was shown, nor her bones.

The thing that’s making me worried the most is that she can’t seem to walk yet, she can definitely stand up, but she drags her chest all the time. I don’t know how to help her, someone please tell me what to do or how to help her, i don’t wanna lose her but i also don’t want her to keep suffering.

I am so sorry your duck was injured. What breed and are you sure you saw all the bite wounds. When there is an injury it's best to clip the feathers away from the bite wounds so you can clean them real good and keep the feathers from getting into the wound when it's healing up.
Most likely when it first happened she was in shock. So that is when you place them in a quiset area preferably inside so you can keep a close watch on them. After a while as you have seen she started drinking and is now eating which is good. I don't know why she would be dragging her chest unless she is wounded worse than you have seen.
I know your new here but if there is any way you can upload a video of what she is doing?
You'll have to upload the video to youtube or Vimeo and copy and paste it here. Rest and TLC maybe some poultry vitamins to help give her a boost maybe all that is needed and hopefully she'll recover. Pictures of the wounds would be good too .

Thank you guys for replying to me! 🥺
I’m here to update y’all, so basically she’s not dragging her breast anymore, she’s doing much better than yesterday, she’s able to stand up as long as she’s leaning against the wall, because her balance isn’t perfect yet, so she can’t walk but she can definitely stand up, without dragging her breast anymore, she’s eating a lot more than the past few days, i also tried taking a picture of her wounds but they can’t be spotted from my phone camera, not because of the quality but because they’re so little.
She took a bath today, and she was so happy and i didn’t fully fill the tub so that she wouldn’t injure herself again because i know her balance isn’t the best and idk if she’ll be able to swim yet, so the water was reaching her belly and she seemed to control her balance a lot more when she was in the water :) so i think i will help her perfect her balance by making her take daily baths.

Update: She’s 100% recovered. 🥰 she’s making a lot of noises to catch my attention, and she doesn’t want me to hold her anymore because she can walk and eat by her own self now. 🤍 thank you so much to everyone who helped us get through this! :)

Hey people, thank you so much for caring about her, and yeah, no more dogs around her ever again, i just want to update you guys on how she’s currently doing.

So yesterday i had to put her down for a few seconds, and i was afraid she injured herself and i noticed she’s now walking, thank God.
Yes, she’s not great at walking yet, she sometimes fails every step, and sometimes she doesn’t even look like she’s got balance issues no more, i think it’s a huge improvement and i’m so happy she’s recovering so quickly from this. I’m so thankful with all ppl who replied to me and helped me out! 😃

oh yeah and by the way, i’m trying not to let her walk that much because i know she’s making a lotta effort when she keeps losing balance and i honestly don’t want her to feel anxious or stressed.

A good idea to give her "hydrotherapy" with daily baths. Try her with deeper water as she may well be able to swim ok without balance issues. But stay with her until you know that she is OK swimming.

I do think that your poor ducky was suffering mainly from shock, poor wee mite. You are doing all the right things for her.
Now you know that your dogs cannot be trusted round your ducks, so please keep the ducks and dogs completely separate for the ducks safety.

I live in canada and there isn't much places near that provide stuff like that. In the meantime what should i feed it until me and you find something for it. I am thinking of implementing fruits and vegetables.
Hi. I’m also in Canada
I go to ufa , peavy Mart or coop feed lot. And purchase chicken feed non medicated
I feed starter from 0-3 weeks tops then grower
If it’s a female once she gets close to laying age I add in layer mixed in with grower and purchase crushed oyster shells
The supplier I usually get that from had been out so I go to pet land and get it under the small bird section
It’s the same idea just much smaller pieces
I order nutritional yeast off amazon and put 1tbs to 1 cup of feed till they are 10-12 weeks then just sprinkle in their dish daily
Hope this helps
You also won’t be able to get chick grit in Canada without a hefty price so I get regular grit from ufa but can’t use it till min of 2 weeks
I don’t give my birds anything but regular feed till then
