Crowing Update:
JD my Black Australorp Roo is crowing! My partner sent me a video this morning. 100% his crowing perfectly. Im excited but omg early.
Also, we have decided to keep JD so far as he protects the coop from other birds and things. He is lovely to me and the kids. He also doesn't wonder from the coop to far either.

Hi Krystal! I haven't posted in so long Im sorry! Hope the weather lets up for you soon.

Looks like you've got a nice garden started. Hey, have you ever tried pre-sprouting your seeds? I could hardly ever get seeds to grow (or only half of them would) and so I usually had to buy potted veggie starts -expensive for what they produced. Anyway I learned about pre-sprouting on wet paper towels and you can tell in a few days which seeds are viable and which are duds. Then you bury the sprout in soil and you have a plant in no time. This is what my sprouted seeds looked like... I placed a sheet of wax paper over the top to hold in some moisture and used a spray bottle to mist them to keep damp.

I made a chart so I could remember which seeds were what.

Then transferred the sprouts to pots. They needed sunlight but it was still very cold out so I used clear bins with loose lids as mini greenhouses

My space is really limited so I use the square foot garden method in raised beds.

I don't know if it's too late for you to start more seeds, but if you want a staggered crop of something, it might be fun to try pre-sprouting.
Here's an article that totally inspired me and explains how it works.

Are all of your birdies still doing good?

Omg yes! We just started doing this with another lot of chillies and they started to grow! Its super exciting. I have been able to grow everything we have tried so far but the chillies were hard and the one thing we really wanted to grow lol.
