They are all EEs, but it has gotten colder, so I can't blame them for slacking off a bit.

It is super hot here. We never get low temperatures in the day. Nothing under 17°c in the day even if we are in the middle of winter but summer can get upto 40°c. Im not sure what that is compared to your temperature though.

How have you been but?

17C is a wonderful spring/fall temp, not too hot an not too cold (~62F). On the other hand 40C is just plain hot (~104F). When I was loosing birds in the brooder it was 40C in the afternoon and -1C at night and early morning, with high humidity.

Been good...

Ohhh thank god. I was thinking geeezz I hope nothing is wrong.
Hows your babies?

They go to pasture tomorrow. That means they'll only have three or four weeks of grass prior to going to the freezer. I've kept them in the brooder two extra weeks because we got hit with a cold snap. Mind you I generally cook Thanksgiving dinner in shorts and a t-shirt out on the grill. It's been dropping down to -4C and they didn't have nearly enough feathers to deal with that. Tomorrow it will be between 10C, maybe even up to 15C or 16C with a low of about 5C. Tuesday could be our truth or die day... I'm on the edge of a weather front, if the warm air pushes the jet stream north, all is good, if not, I could see temps as low as -8C. If it really get's that cold and adds some wintry mix of precipitation, I'll likely lose birds. After Tuesday, we're back up to fall temps. This is the craziest fall I've ever seen here. BTW, I do jump back and forth between imperial and metric as I've spent many years in both, but I hate converting.

Flock Update:
I might have some new hens soon. Some rescue hens. I had ill take 3. My coop is rated for 8 but ill only have 6 in there so I think that will be ok and ill rehome my Cockerel if I do get the rescue hens.
With that beak, Gin will be difficult to rehome. But I’ll be wishing you the best, and good luck with getting your rescue hens!
