Official Squatch Watchers

No,no power down there never thought I'd need it. My coop is pretty small so the cardboard is feasible, it's actually a really good insulator due to the air cells. I don't need a huge bump, just a couple degrees would be great, mostly for the roo. I've got a butt ton of boxes so it won't hurt to try. Plus since it's coop colored they won't freak, I'm going to try the glycerin thing just to see. I don't want them cold but I'm super paranoid about running an extension cord, better chilly than smoked.
I would think it would be more effort than it is worth to insulate with cardboard. Its not very thick so you would need lots of it.
Do you have power available at the coop? You can make a water heater pretty cheaply. Glycerin is not likely to make much difference, imo. Sorry.

It's quite pretty anyway.

Maybe I'm missing something, but how come you need it warmer in there? Isn't it in the teens? Shouldn't be any issues at all in those temps :idunno

You're absolutely right there shouldn't be but despite the temperature and more than adequate ventilation and keeping the coop bone dry and properly tending the comb I'm one of the many, many people who had a roo get frostbite. I'm just hoping to keep him from having more issues.
