Official Squatch Watchers

I have a few true white leghorns I think 2 of them. They are TINY and skittish as all get out. I have leghorn crosses, which are also really skittish. In fact, most of my birds are skittish and dislike being handled, but the leghorn/leghorn crosses are the worst.
That's another funny fact leghorns are so small and make huge eggs. How does something so small make eggs that big

I haz sleepin’ baby cuddles!

LMAO DH had already headed out and had the damn thing frozen in fear. He was looking for something to shoo it out. I'm all like *shoo it out my aunt fannie*, grabbed the closest thing I saw and hit the bottom step of the porch at full speed. I get to the coop... DH looks at what's in my hand and goes *what in the HELL are you gonna do with that?*.... I look down... I had grabbed our garden hose spray attachment. Yeah, guess I was gonna drown it!!! :lau :gig
Usually they play possum if you beat them with anything
Execpt the old males... I kick them until they play dead... I wear safety toe boots... one'time one old boy decided to bite my toe... I had to back him up to a gate leaning up against the fence and flop the gate on him..then he played possum... until I got the gun
Lots of possums around here... I only bother the ones that get in the poultry yard.. they eat ticks

Yeah they didn't look like a critter I would want around.

Smuv, if it was after chickens....... Maybe chicken as bait?

It really MAY HAVE been after chickie eggs.... but I takes NO chances and takes NO prisoners. It dies.

PS. Anyone getting a giggle outta these new KFC commercials with Reba?!? :lau

Yes Hamburg chicks are very delicate.
They are tiny and frail for the first 2 weeks.

If you get any brood them separately from your other chicks and use extra draft protection. Definitely use sav-a-chick in the water and don't try to handle unless pasty butt happens.

Seriously I have raised about 160 chicks and these were very delicate. Even more delicate then my Polish that 90% of the shipment were lost due to an extra 2 days in transit.
Seriously, an extra 2 freaking days!!
The Polish were shipped early, no notification, on a Wednesday AND did not arrive until Monday.

I have only ever lost 2 as chicks. One was due to a cold snap and I did not have enough heat set up. The other was a hamburg. It was fine for 3 days after arrival then suddenly died. Not sure why but the others would get wobbly and weak if I did not grind the feed until it was like fine sand.

Just want you to be ready. They were great birds. Just need extra care the first couple weeks.
I might have to pass on that and just stay with possible Seabrights

A YouTuber I watch (Justin Rhodes) just found a possum in his chicken tractor. He posted a video of him chasing it out. Fortunately, it didn't get his girls. I was yelling a him to kill the dang thing.
