Official Squatch Watchers

I have one of those reptile ones. My ex gave it to me but I questioned whether it was safe to use.

I'm right there with you! IDK what stores are by you, but they make vents you could use. I got 2 of these: https://www.lowes.com/pd/Air-Vent-8-in-L-White-Aluminum-Soffit-Vent/3122213
I cut a hole a little smaller than the vent and put silicone around it, then used screws to hold it in place. I had no problem at all with rain coming in, but then I had SNOW blowing in one of my vents last night! I had to cover it with plastic. I know I need ventilation, but how on earth am I supposed to keep the snow from blowing in?! It's so frustrating. I'm going to get a couple magnetic covers to block most of it, to keep the blowing wind out, but hopefully still allow some ventilation.
Thanks, i'll try doing that.

I was thinking about a piece of plywood hung above the vent to act like an awning, attached at the top but out from the wall 6 or 8 inches to allow air in and out.

You don't need a heat lamp for chickens, BUT if you get them used to it then they depend on the heat and do not tolerate the cold as well. Better off to wean them slowly be using lesser wattage bulbs and gradually cut back.
Since I have my week old chicks in the coop, the older chicks try to lay under the lamp. To keep them from blocking the week old chicks lamp, I have to keep another lamp on :barnie They were out in the 30 degree temps this morning when I went to check on them and they looked absolutely miserable out there. It was pitiful!

My back was giving me so much pain from oversized breasts that i had the surgery. It hurt at the time, but it has helped me so much! Wonderful in the long run. The plastic surgeon was excellent.
Good for you glad it has helped you and it was something that you were able to do to improve quality of life :clap:thumbsup
