Official Squatch Watchers

You are a bunny poop saint! What a taterhole dad, hope he needs diaper changes in his life and his changer is super slow. Gah, poor everyone and everything involved in that mess.
I'll have to come back and catch up later but wanted to vent about the "rat" visitors I noticed earlier this week.

This afternoon my next door neighbor called me in tears to vent about her DH and kids.
She has MS. Two smal kids and a husband who spends zero time at home.

Regular girl talk.

Turns out the dad promised the kids pet bunnies.
Which they got over the summer.
But then they didn't like the smell indoors.
So they got 2 outdoor hutches on LETGO and relocated them to the back porch.

not this exact hutch but made this way:

A few weeks ago the kids mention that the back porch is "slippery" and "smelled "bad".

Then last week one of the kids starts talking about her bunnies' "friend" and the daddy said "Awh how cute, she has an imaginary friend for her bunny!"

Well it turns out DH promised the wife that since the kids are too little and she isn't well,
HE WOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR CARING FOR THE RABBITS.

Well it turns out he "cleaned" it out when the weather was warm by sliding out the poop tray and flinging the crap on the back lawn.

But then it got cold,
And the hutches haven't been cleaned out since thanksgiving and the poop trays over flowed with urine (slimy porch) and the poop had compacted in the slop and was oozing out the back and off the side of their deck .... well you get the idea what the underneath of those cages looked like.

Turns out the "bunny's friend" is a rat/family of rats maybe.

I gathered supplies and went over.

2 hours!

I fitted the doors with hardware cloth.

Tightened the screws on the guides to hold the trays snug.

Cleaned up 25 pounds of gagging slop

Scrubbed her porch with vinegar and dish soap.

Brought my traps over to her house and set them for her.

Sometimes you just need a day to be in service to others.

Stacey,
Thank you so much for doing that.
It's good to be reminded that there are still good people in the world.

So, on a side note, my best friend has a really long rehearsal tommorow, so I'm planning on ninjaing a glittery package of chocolate to her tommorow. I was joking about being a glittery chocolate ninja fairy during lunch today, and she laughed so hard she cried. I can't wait to see her reaction!

OMG, that is disgusting! How wonderful of you to help the poor things. They need to give them away to someone who will take care of them!
