Official Squatch Watchers

Good morning everyone! Today is my first day off since last Monday. I'm so glad I can leave my work computer off today. The Milk Drinker slept pretty well, but didn't go to bed until after midnight last night and woke at 8 this morning.

We are now getting 30+ eggs a day! I knew we'd be swimming in eggs soon since we have 44 laying age hens/pullets, but the spring glut is already upon us. I've been looking into ways of preserving the eggs and stumbled on using lime water (water glassing) to preserve them into the winter months. We are also going to start selling eggs soon. I need to work on getting a permit and an egg refrigerator. We keep eggs for our own consumption in the pantry, unwashed. That doesn't work if we are going to sell them.
I know it depends on the state what you need to do to sell eggs but I don’t wash mine. There is a note on them staying they are not washed and why. Some places have no regulations if you sell them from your yard. But want to check things out if you go to a farmers market or provide for a store.

Most of our snow is gone, except on the north side of stuff where the sun never touches. I was stunned how quickly everything from last week melted. *Supposedly* the weather lady this morning said we're to get trace- 1/2" here overnight tonight. We'll see, they're usually really wrong, one way or the other.

Good morning my loves!

Been absent cuz, well, I've been hatching out little babies! (I call them "popcorn chicken,",lol). Also--and this is a first for me--I went and did my taxes yesterday, early, did not procrastinate this year, did not have to file an extension or pay fines and penalties, AND am getting a little bit of money back! Yeahhh!!!

I'll update ya's on the final tiny bird saga after some coffee, catchup, and wake up a little! I ope everyone is doing well, is happy, and healthy today. Love ya's! :)

How are everyone's chicks & eggs doing?
I've got 5 mixed flock eggs in lock down, 8 Cornish eggs and 19 Banty Cochin/Chocolate Orp eggs in the starter incubator. I only saw 3 wigglers in the 5 eggs in lockdown. Hopefully we get some eggs to hatch this time.:fl

Strawberries are rooted, already got some green tops on them. The other 2 beds were seeds. I didn't get around to starting seeds because of the wiggy weather.... now I'm glad I didn't. One bed is all beets (white, golden and dark red) and the other is salad stuff, plus a section of snow peas. All of the seeds said they were mild to regular frost hardy, so here's hoping.

During Black Friday, we bought a bunch of cattle panels so we could make hoop coops AND some hoop greenhouses.

Picked up a couple of bagged salads yesterday from Kroger to get the DH and PIC used to eating salads again.

I think I have laundry shoulder. It's like tennis elbow, but not as glamorous.

Hope everyone is having a good Sunday evening. Check in!!!
Omg, i finally figured out why my left elbow hurts so much! Its a case of BYC elbow! Holding up my phone for too many hours each day! I am applying heat, but i may have to rest it or devise some way to hold it without my left arm!:gig
