Official Squatch Watchers

Looked at yet another set of houses this weekend. Of course the one I like is out of budget and needs 55k in work! Just a little extra....

That bites!

Are you looking for anything special in a home?
Besides being able to keep your birds of course.

If you can... seriously... take your time in picking a house. Although I am still adjusting to our *new* house, it is definitely a purchase that I jumped into head first....... we were *looking* at property in KY while still living in TX, and we just couldn't afford to have me fly out every single time our realtor found us a house. I can say, the majority of them we're not even close to what we wanted..... this one kinda fit.... although there are too many issues to list right now.

So some choices have been made, I've lowered my housing standards, and I am trying to make do with a.... well, not *bad* situation.... but one I would not have chosen had I seen it up close and personal before we agreed to purchase.

Now, before all my smarty pants Squatchers say taters, keep in mind we moved 7 times in 10 years, and I still have stuff in boxes that haven't seen the light of day yet. We wanted to move into a house, a house we could paint the walls and dig in the dirt and get chickens and the whole rural experience. We have that... mostly.

What I am missing is room for storage; a kitchen that is much bigger to fit all my gadgets and gives me room to cook. A basement, or one that can be built. A yard and field and driveway that doesn't flood every damn time it rains more than 30 minutes. A couple more acres, with wooded areas. I can go on.

I am truly wishing you the best of luck with your house hunting. :hugs

@staceyj is still in deep mourning of her cat, so won't be back yet. She's already carrying around a full plate with family issues, and the sudden death of her beloved cat just kinda put a crack in her soul. She'll be back soon I'm sure.

Looking for @Chickassan and curious about @KikisGirls balut experiment.

Cool trick with the egg Sammie. And we miss you RJ!

I want to pose a question to you all.

When we go to sell our eggs, I want to list them as semi free range, as they do get some times during the week where they are out of their run and graze in our front and side yard. We don't let them free range unsupervised, nor when the weather is particularly tatery. So, semi free range listed would be OK yes? I can also put cage free since they aren't in cages... and they *free range* in their run that easily gives them each more than 10sq ft per bird. Their coops are always open into the run as well, which would also count as cage free..... or am I overstretching?

With our chickens producing close to 20 eggs per day, we really gotta get off our duffs and get eggs out there selling. I'm not sure who, but one of our chickies is laying very small, very dark olive green eggs. I need to put all our little eggs together in a basket and take a pretty photo.

Well, gnight all. Hope everyone had a luscious day!

They are definitely cage free. The cages refereed to are battery cages. You know those huge warehouses with like three chickens per foot? Those are technically cage free as well. I think it would be fine to list them as semi-free range. Not so sure about that part, though.
