Official Squatch Watchers

I'm working on the whole BR thing right now, but one of my blacks escaped the convent to go play with the BR Tom.:he I'll give her a black tom in a couple weeks and hope for the best. Then of all things, I walked in to the greenhouse where the convent is and one of the girls had a four inch snood and gobbled at me.:he:th:he I
I'm bringing the RP Tom in tomorrow to visit with his girls. He will have a week to take care of three girls. Next will be the Nari followed by the black.

I do have a challenge that I haven't figured out how to handle. In my last duck hatch last year, I had three poults. Not sure how turkey eggs got in there, but they did. Two survived to adult hood. One RP and one black. The RP was genetically flawed as he had no barring. Had to kick them out of the greenhouse to start breeding. First night the black got tangled up in the fence and cut his throat. He's now recovering in the hospital. The RP or white wouldn't leave the spot where his buddy got hurt and got taken out last night by what I'm guessing was a coyote. A little blood, lots of feathers and nothing else. Now this guy in the hospital no longer has a friend and is an outcast with the other toms... I could process him, but he has all the markings and stature of a good breeder. I don't think he'll integrate with the others and he is definitely lonely. What do I do?

Got an extra hen to keep him company?

Picked up some fully feathered chicks today. Quarantine is in the mud room.
Is 48* - 50* ok? They weren’t using a heat lamp where they were. They aren’t huddled up but I’m a worry wart.

How many? The more chicks, the less I worry, but they should be fine.

Can you bring a girl in to visit? No conjugals but might be nice to have another turkey around.

3 Cuckoo Marans and 2 Turkens. I have them in a big dog crate with coverings around to block drafts. It’s supposed to get warmer starting Monday. The mud room is enclosed but not insulated or heated.

Hi Sammy! Missed you too!

I have five new cream legbar chicks—3 cockerels and two pullets. They hatched under my broody cochin few days ago. I found a buyer for the two extra males and am going to let my broody raise the other three. I have never had chicks quite this young before. They are so tiny and cute! I like to squeeze into the run of their coop to watch them
Little chicks are hard to stop watching little fuzz balls running around

Oooh new girls? Do tell? What kind? How old? Girls you bought or girls you hatched?
Girls I hatched and eggs about to hatch. I’ve been working hard on getting my Ameraucana flock to a good size and selling off my mixes and since I don’t think I have any freeloading girls it’s hard to send them to freezer camp. Ofter this I’ll put some more effort in the bantams
