Morning everyone!

Looking like rain today here. I will be heading out post haste to get a few more things planted.
Hubby helped me get that rock hard dirt tilled and amended with cow poo. I just need to rake it and plant. Six of the eleven tomatoes are in and have domes to protect from heavy wind and hail.

Several of my swiss chard had bolted so the gals got those this morning.

My aunt who came from England drank comfrey tea every day. She lived a very long life and was very healthy.

There are different varieties that are more or less toxic.

As much as I love the rain and we need it............Could we get some freaking sunshine one of these days!!!!!!
Hope everyone is having a good Friday!
Right? We finally got a few days of *nice* weather where it wasn't raining so of course it's instantly 80 degrees and humid... If it's not disgustingly hot and humid it's raining here. It'd be nice if it'd dry things out enough so the run isn't pure mud and reeks to high heaven and not be so hot I'm concerned one of my girls will drop dead.

I heard someone tried that but the chickens wouldn't eat it. It is high in protein, right?
I have some in a raised bed where it floods and it is doing well and I pick for the birds, turkeys like it more so than the chickens... But I had a pot of it outside the chicken yard. I forgot about it when I let them out in the garden.. The chickens ate it all and kept eating it and it died.
"....Bocking #4 Comfrey is much appreciated by cattle, dairy cows, goats, horses, pigs, sheep, alpacas, donkeys, chinchillas. and rabbits — anything that eats vegetation!

(Note: the Bocking #14 strain is disliked by rabbits and chickens—being too bitter--and should not be confused with Bocking #4!)..." http://www.coescomfrey.com/use.html

We needed the rain... but not this many days and the bugs that are going come with it
I'm used to the heat and humidity, being born and raised in the Keys, it doesn't bother me too much. There are plenty of ways to cool off! A beer, a kiddy pool or two.
I have 2 kiddie pools(used to be 3 but one is a brooder right now) for all the ducks and chickens and I change the water 2-3x a day for them. The really hot days I will spray a shady spot down with water and they will all lay in it. When I was in Oklahoma I had 2 shallow water things where they could stand in it if they wanted.. you could walk out the hottest part of the day and see about 70 chickens standing in water lol

I "borrowed" the sunshine for today. Sorry.

I did finally get pole beans, pickling cukes, regular cukes, sweet corn, cabbage, dill, cantaloupe and more planted.
:D

Finally got the lawn mowed and I swear I could have used a bailer on the cuttings. Instead I raked a bunch of it into the chicken run. Covered the dirt and mixed it into the run area by the coop to start a better DLM.
Supposed to rain the tomorrow but be better Sunday. Then again it’s Ohio so that may change.
