Who was it who was talking about chicken enrichment items for their run this week?

Xylophone was on the list I remember, because I almost commented on the post, “don’t bother, I have one they never touch it”

Then today I was sitting on the porch watching the rain and at first I didn’t notice the noises. I looked over and
Dolly was all by herself over by the run working the whole percussion section.

DONK. DONK. DINK.
DINK DINK DINK.
PLINK!
PLINKLPINKPLINK!
DONK. DONKDONK. DONK.

she wasn’t pecking at bugs or anything. She was amusing herself whacking the metal trashcan that holds their feed, on its side then the top then the side some more, then the xylophone that hangs next to it on the outside of the run then back to the trash can.

She was definitely comparing them.

I need cowbells! And some good sounding windchimes!

:lau I love it! I was the one asking for ideas, and this makes me want a xylophone even MORE.

Also, as another desert dweller, I have never exposed my chickens to the horrors of a raincoat but in winter I tried to wear my hubby's big coat out side and the girls were petrified. Can chickens scream? I think they screamed

Oh, but I should add, that wearing outer wear is nothing compared to the true horror I subjected my chickens to today. I MOVED THE COOP.
Hubby helped finish the run extension but in order to maximize space and prevent a bottle-neck in the middle, we had to move the broody coop. My poor babies may never forgive me.

Ugh.. spring hormones. Willie, who's never been much of a jerk has actually started to interfere w/ Odin's romancing now. Now I have 2 turds.

It was horrible here all weekend too. Why can't we have spring anymore?

I'm really not looking forward to it either. I went and bought a fan to put in the coop b/c it was so hot. I need to find another window for the other side. Next week appears to be mid 70's so that'll be nice (until they change it to 90's in 3 days).

I reserve the right to complain about the weather at any given moment.

That's close to me too! They're beautiful. How'd you find them, craigslist?

Friday evening I went over to let the ladies out for a bit and who ran out of the coop w/ everyone? Loki. I was so worried that she was abandoning her little egg, but the egg was still warm & she did go back in a while later. I checked it last night and it still has big fat veins so I think we're doing ok. It should be 2 weeks today or tomorrow so we've got just another week to go. Loki looks so hot right now, panting.. I've given her ice water that's within reach so she doesn't have to get up to get some. The past 2 days I was really worried about her. I'm hoping the fan I put in the window will help by at least keeping the air moving around. This heat is ridiculous, but thankfully this weekend it's supposed to break, but not after 3 days of almost 90 deg days & thunderstorms. I need to do something about Odin's space. The tarp keeps filling with water, so I'll need to put a board under it to keep it up some so it will hopefully drain during the storms.
Lol

I don't mean to laugh. :lau
That's dang funny though......from here!

Crazy what they freak over. :hmm
Radish tops? Cool beans!
A radish left on? AAAAAAAAHHHHHH!! Mass panic!

I really love your chickens!
My guineas clearly do NOT like my new sun hat. Any excuse to cause a scene!

I bought a xylophone for my cockatoo but she chewed it up!

It’s a good thing the Milk Drinker is cute. He didn’t go to sleep until 30 min ago (11:20pm). :barnie

This is a picture of him napping earlier today.
