Cap, hope the pup is ok

I noticed she would come in to lay an egg and be really red in the face. She’s flighty so it was hard to convince her to sit in the box with me there. Usually I would leave her be but I saw her face go pale when she sat. I thought I was losing it but when another hen tried to jump in the box I watched her face turn red. I shooed the other hen to see what happened and she went pale again.
Weird

Not that I have a large flock... but I’ve observed each of mine do that while laying.

Crap, the dog is having an allergic reaction to the vaccine i gave her! Her face is all puffy and she is panting and restless. I hosed her down because she seems hot, and gave her 2 benadryl pills. Also applied ice to her swollen face.
Wish i had an epipen. I need to figure out where the nearest emergency vet is.

I’m jut catching up here from last night. God Cappy I hope your pup’s okay.

This morning has just barely gotten rolling and I am already pulling my hair out.

Not much sleep due to Sable sleep barking again.
Chickens freaking out less than 10 minutes after being let out!
Setting up live trap again. Stupid neighbors letting kitties roam.
They found that harassing my birds us great fun.

Not being mean to kitty at all. We are close to a major highway. I don't want to see kitty mashed.
I will give kitty a ride to the pound. Yes it sucks taters. If they have to bail kitty out maybe they will learn.
Not everyone wants random kitty in their yard.

Needless to say it got way to loud in my yard with 20 birds sounding the alarm. The dogs reacted and went to full barking in the house too. Hubby and son now awake and grumpy. I get up early so was already awake.

It's the same 2 cats I gave rides to several times last summer.

I’ve never seen it so blatantly I guess. She changed color before my eyes. LOL

I’ve never uploaded a video so let’s see if this works.

My Olive Egger Shadow changes colors. I’ve noticed it before and it doesn’t seem to bother her in the least. Has anyone else seen a chicken be really red in the face and go pale and back seemingly at will?

I have one that does that as well. She will get super red...almost magenta....and hours later back to pale red or pink. I assume its hormonal . It's crazy to see

I guess I have been lucky.. the cats are afraid of the roosters... they just go after mice and voles in the garden mainly
