Official Squatch Watchers

Most people's bad weekends: "I didn't get to see the movie I wanted. It was super dissapointing."
My bad weekend: "I had to pick thousands of maggots out of the bloody rear of my beloved pet, while babysitting three boys."

Luckily the boys were asleep. I have permanently traumatized my sister, though. Turns out it wasn't a reproductive disorder. I'm lucky we've been checkin every day; otherwise this could hve been much worse. Not that it isn't terrible already. Send me your prayers; I'm riht now waitin for the sink to fill up so I can(hopefully) wash some of the remainin magots out of hidin. Excuse my typin, my g's stickin and I'm in a hurry. My mom is oing to get betadine on her way back.

Fly strike Ruby?

Which pet dear?

The gag level must be extreme. :sick

Saw the coon again while I was locking up, it got way too close and kept staying close. It has got to go, like permently go. I chased it, threw stuff at it ,made noise and it would run off then come back. I don't like that one tiny bit. It was pretty much at the back door, chickens wanted to alert at it and walk towards the thing so I couldn't go get my problem solver. I don't like raccoons.:rant

Unfortunately, I had to cull the last baby.:hit

I ended up pulling its top half out of the shell and it still didn't kick free after a couple hours. I carefully dumped it from the bottom half of the shell and I found it had several loops of intestine (at least 6 inches) still outside its body.
Oh that’s sad. I’m sorry.
Thank God for you though, that it didn’t have to suffer.

Oh man, i hate it when they don't get their taters together! I had a lavendar guinea hatch and it died the next day, it was very tiny. Sorry you lost one!

Ruby, do you want to post a picture?

I’ve worked on maggot infestations in lots of dogs and cat but never a chicken.
I wish I was there to help you. I’d round up all the tweezers in the house.

I just read a long thread here from a while back.

Some highlights were:
One person used dog flea shampoo ( permethrin) in the soaks. Said it killed them.

Someone else used Sevin garden dust -patted it on waited a while, washed off the dead maggots.

Several people said sea salt instead of Epsom

A few people talked about a horse product called AluSpray Areosol
Said it looked like spray on aluminum foil but it was awesome for healing after you get the maggots out.

You need to get rid of him.

Did somebody have an article on ether euthanasia? Not giving up, just need to be prepared for all outcomes.

It was PBM and maybe Smuv that have the article.

I really hope it doesn't come to that. :hugs

I will go looking for it again.
