Aww little boobie mutant! Not going to lie i'm a bit jealous since i'm a lover of chick toes and mutants in general.:)
Good morning, all. :caf

I'm sitting here with a tiny, content, quietly peeping, 6-toed,fuzzy little mutant happily nestled in my cleavage, drinking a cup of coffee (me, not the chick). :love Life is grand!

I have a pip in my lone Serama egg in the bator , finally. Day 20 for her. I'm beginning to think this chick hatching business is a piece of cake! All 4 hatchlings are doing great so far.

Gonna go catch up on y'alls lives now. Love yas!

That little one is so cute and sweet. And I think he is a boy. :(

I just tried to feather-sex all 4 chickies and I came up with two boys, two girls. We'll see if it works as they get older!

Gonna go check on the pipper now....

She's molting so I didn't think anything about missing her eggs. She had made a nest behind a little wall in the breezeway that connects the coops. The only way I can see around in that space is to actually get up in the breezeway. I just happened to see her tail.:th
Chickens are so strange. She knows just where to hide to keep you from stealing her babies. Maybe stick a mirror up in the corner like they do to watch people in convenience stores.

Here's her little freak foot!

Holy crap, could she be more adorable?? I don't think so.

(Gawd, my hands look nasty and awful! Got those dried-out, overwashed oversanitized, nursie witch hands, lol!)
Um.. is that common? (cute freak of nature though!)

Thanks DD! I fell today again! I swear this ladder hates me. I was very careful all day, putting boards under the legs so they didn't sink in the mud. I had it all set up and climbed up top of the run to staple the wire on top. I was stapling along and suddenly i had this vision of myself falling! And then the ladder folded and i fell, but hung onto the wood at the top. Really did a number on my torso under my boobs, i bet i get a bruise. At least i didn't bang my head on the tree stump!
Um.. maybe it's time to get a new ladder, or possibly get a tether strap to secure it.

I got a turkey nail to the hand last night, one of the girls roosted on the chicken run.

No insulating fat there!
Are you sure it was a turkey, that looks like a velociraptor got you.

Its fluorescent green!:lau
Oh wow, that's going to scream 'EAT ME!' to your birds. You know that's going to be a green glowing beacon to every chicken in the neighborhood.

Day one in the new separated outdoor brooder setup (inside the main run):

These are my two moms, Fergus and Olive. They are both doing a wonderful job as first-time moms! :D

They're so tiny! [for now]

Tbank you so much.....who measures in mls anyway.....lol
Besides the rest of the free world? I keep those little medicine cups from the pharmacy/ medicine bottles for stuff like that.

Ugh, the thanks I get! Bought those ungrateful derps some calf manna yesterday to boost them a little during the time of ugly chickens and they don't want to eat it because "pellets". So i'm either going to have to wet it or grind it, i'm looking forward to neither since I really don't like how anise smells.:caf
If you just leave them there long enough, will they eat them? I swear my birds dump out the feeder to find the calf manna that's been mixed in. Several times I've seen a couple eggers swiping feed on to the floor for no good reason. I swear they're looking for it.

I will be looking for a ladder sale for sure, that one is possessed!

My new brooder just needs a roof and a lamp protector box.

@apryl29 , I'm way ahead of you on the mirror. I bought one of those mirrors on a stick from the car department at walmart. I don't want a bunch of little Marlenes i'm good with the one. I don't know if I left the manna if they'd eventually eat it. I thought they'd be all over it since they need it pellets or not but they're die hard snobs. The little ones that don't really need it think its delicious, figures right?:lau

Oh and TSC is doo doo! They had one solitary bag of the mana and I didn't notice but that sucker had been snipped open and taped back. It wasn't torn, this was a corner snip. They could have at least discounted a little on that bag.:caf

I agree. I had to go there for feed and they had "repaired" bags at full price at my TSC too. If all the stores look like mine does it makes me wonder why anyone shops there. I get it if there are no others in a reasonable distance.

This was the first repaired bag iv'e gotten and since there was just the one my hands were tied. I'm still not happy about it because I wonder why it was like that in the first place. The store here is always out of stock, the choices are sad, and stuff is way too expensive. It is teeny tiny and they pack the middle with toys and crap. There are two other feed stores. One has wonk hours so good luck getting in there and the other one is bug city so i'm trapped with TSC.:barnie
