Oh I didn't just buy the place. FNF is our new homeowner.

We been here 17 years. OMG 17 years!!

At one point there were 6 relatives all at once moved in on us.......... Yes 6 additional people.
During that great adventure I got laid off too. What a nightmare that was trying to feed everyone.

I know!!! :thI caught myself and edited my post before you wrote that, lol. But I was too late!

That's what happens when you start typing away early in the morning before you've had enough :caf, lol!

Oyyy, 6 relatives and a layoff??!! I don't know what I would do. I'm not half as nice as you are!

Lol I got up early and beat the streets looking for a job. I was out of work for 6 months. Thank goodness for the unemployment checks.

Morning all :frow
Stacey, I was working on it, but took me an hour to catch up.:th
He's going back in today for more tests. The incision is clean, but swelling continues.

Morning Bob! We knew you'd poke your pointy little head in here yet!

Did they get the C&S results back yet? Does it look infected, or just swollen? It is possible to have swelling just from the trauma of all that tissue handling...

Does he have a fever? Acting normally? Eating/drinking?

Poor little guy. :hugs

I bet you did!!
All good questions pbm, I'm still waiting for answers. I asked them last night but haven't gotten a response yet. DW should get a report this AM but I'll have to wait until she get's home to read it.

K, well you let us know! And best thoughts are with you! :hugs

Gotta get going, gotta get my TB test read and sub half a day. See y'all later, have a great day!

You could build a weather baffle. Basically its a box with a hole over the pop door and one side with a chicken door hole. You can put it inside or outside the coop.
I have that set up on the other pop door. I have to put the side wall back on soon. It gives them a nice covered porch in the summer. I'm kinda worried that my idiots wouldn't be able to figure it out.

@apryl29 Is it rain coming directly in or runoff from rain as it flows down the hill? If it's rain coming directly in, the baffle or any overhang that is long enough and angled to keep the doorway dry will work, you just need to have a waterproof seal where it meets with the coop. The baffle would be the best, and easiest. If it's runoff, you will need to dig a trench and put in gravel and a perforated drain tube, then cover in gravel so the chickens can walk on it, but the water will still drain off without saturating anything. You can use smooth river stones as the top layer so they don't get bumbles. The key is that the drain is long enough for the water to not build up on that entire side of the coop, so the trench and pipe would have to extend about a foot past the corner at each end of the coop wall.
I think it's being blown in through the door. The roof does slant back so there *would* be run off from the roof, but It goes out far enough that it shouldn't be blowing back in. The door is at least a foot off the ground. I'm planning on installing a gutter on the back so I can direct the water off to the side.. add that to my list of 'stuff I wanted to do, but $$ and other stuff going on got in the way'.
I like the river stone idea for up by the coop though, it might help with their mud issue I seem to have in the winter. After I get the run reinforced I was planning on putting a tarp on that space so they'll have a place outside to roam. Right now I have one of those shade tarps on it, but it's hard to remove the snow & ice. I wanted to do one of those plastic roofs, but $$, & it seems the sizes they have aren't that great for the space where I want it. I'm still trying to figure out where to go w/ it. My coop is 8' wide.. the panels are only 8'x 2'. So I'd want at least 2 of them. It annoys the living hell out of me that they're only 2'... Why would you want to piece together your entire roof?!

This is a family website.. I'm not going to say it. I'm going to keep this pg.

@apryl29

No!
Do not keep straw in your trunk!

A couple of years ago I had mice IN MY CAR!

guess where they were living ?????????????

In a box of Kleenex.
Mamma and 5 babies.
That's horrifying. I kept straw in my trunk in the last car and didn't have any uninvited guests. My boss once found some in her glove box.
I was worrying about the possibility of bringing home mites in the straw though. I'm going to give a couple of the white ones a once over tonight.

Well ya'll the storm is gone, it quit maybe an hour after I complained about it lol! I've had clear sky and just a tiny breeze. I'm glad, they were saying 35mph wind with 60mph gusts. Doled out a bunch of those worms, got bit a whole lot. They act like I don't feed them when iv'e got those. Everybody is happy except for Hobo, she dosen't like them only mealies. I've gotten those the last couple orders though and they don't last just way too small.:)
Glad it wasn't too bad for you. I've been seeing the photos and videos of everything on the coastline just destroyed.. it's really sad.

I got something that semi fits lol! A pair of leggings. They fit my legs and thighs but iv'e got room for rent in the waist and butt. I still like them, very soft but they do some unkind things to my shape.:gig
Can you take in the waist band by putting in a drawstring? Probably won't be super fancy, but it'll keep you from flashing everyone and getting arrested for indecent exposure.

Lol!! No trying to sit next to me on a plane! :gig we'd both be stuck!
There's nothing that makes you feel like an absolute cow than sitting in a plane seat next to a stranger and you're trying to not let your butt spill over into their space. Like I'm plus, but didn't really feel like I'm that big until I took my nephew to his dad and on the last plane of 4 that date I was seated to a rather petite woman, but was uncomfortably aware of the amount of space I was occupying. I had the window seat, thankfully and after crawling over the other 2 people in my row, I spent the flight trying to keep myself wedged against the side of the plane.

We got the latest reports from family in FL.

All places that they were working are either gone or very heavily damaged. One house lost, 2 houses with damage but maybe livable......

Most of the extended family is bugging out of FL.

Three guesses where they are headed.............

FNF? Can I come stay with you?? :hit
Glad everyone's ok, sucks about their homes and workplaces. Maybe they'll wander into another town on the way to yours and decide to stay there.

Whoa. That's the freakest thing I've seen in a while. Am I the only one who's wondering if it moves? Also, if you can clip off extra toes from a foot, why wouldn't you be able to remove these? Not suggesting it b/c I probably wouldn't be able to do it, just wondering.

Oh iv'e been a member for years! Aeropostle ones fit good the live, love, dream and the bethany moda's. These were super cheap though and made out of jersey knit so I got suckered in.:)
My kids like the ones from Forever 21 and they'll have sales where they're $3. They like Old Navy ones too, but are expensive & it's best to watch for sales (everything there is unrealistically expensive). We usually just get ours from Walmart. I just bought them each a pair and they were $6. My younger one who usually wears a large was able to fit into a medium & my older one usually gets a med and said those were too big. They changed them though, and the band is different.

Oh Dear!! That makes for very tight quarters!

I know it makes me sound horrible not wanting them to come.
I KNOW family is supposed to help family.
I just also know what it's like to have this group moved in here.
:th
Don't feel bad. You can't save everyone. And Co is very far to go, surely they have somewhere closer to go.

Now hear this:

If MY DH’s family said they were coming here..........

One of two things would happen.

You’d be reading about me in the news tomorrow.

Or one of you lucky people would wake up and find me asleep in my car in your driveway.
I'd be saying the same thing about my ex's family too. I don't live well with others. I did let my aunt stay w/ us for a while, but it was before I had kids and we had a 3 bedroom place and they didn't stay very long. THey had just moved up here from TX and needed a place to stay while they found a house.

Henny, it wouldn't be an imposition on any of us squatchers, it would be guests who actually are willing to help, especially feeding critters of feathers and barking/meowing fur.
No, I just want to sleep on your couch all day long so you can't use your living room, eat all your food, and complain about everything but not do anything to help or fix my situation.

All good questions pbm, I'm still waiting for answers. I asked them last night but haven't gotten a response yet. DW should get a report this AM but I'll have to wait until she get's home to read it.
That's good. I assume he was checked for MRSA, right? My daughter had that and it was crazy. It was a pocket the size of a ping pong ball on her abdomen. She got a scratch and it actually healed closed and the infection was going on under the skin. I had no idea until she showed me a red spot on her stomach. We went to the er and they gave her meds and said to soak it til it opened and to squeeze out what I could. I squeezed out a tablespoon of pus (in hindsight they were stupid to have me squeeze it b/c it could have gone deeper and gotten in to her bloodstream and killed her). Have kids they said, it'll be fun they said.

Morning everyone. It is so nice and cool here today. I'm loving wearing a sweatshirt!

“CAMP CAPPY”
Camp for wayward teens...

Has a nice ring to it, doesn’t it?
My mom's brother would often threaten his two middle children (who were babied, spoiled, and favored by their mother) that he would send them to my mom to see if she could straighten them out. They always behaved really well when they were at my house. My mom didn't take any of their nonsense.
