I think Pat is a girl. :p

Agree, Pat looks female just "stout". To be honest she looks like a buff colored Marlene...have fun with that! :caf

I think Pat is a girl too.
My Memaw would have said, “she just big-boned.”
For the record this is the same chicken that you all said was a rooster not that long ago! :lauIt would be a miracle of Pat turned out to be a girl. I have enough boys that if you guys are wrong I'm sending you each a cockerel.
I am so big boned i cracked the toilet seat today!:lau
If it makes you feel any better the exs grandma broke the whole toilet.:D

I have enough boys to send to every squatcher !! I don’t need no more!!
Now I gotta go back and see if I predicted cockerel before. Lol. I’m pretty horrible at that game anyway.

I agree with Pat being Patricia instead of Patrick. She just didn't say roo in the pic, and there's lots of reasons for tree trunk legs. Curved tail feathers are possible on both genders, the big thing is are the tail feathers pointed or rounded. Check them against Jr. or Taterhead, and then against your other hens, whichever they resemble most will be what she is. Being an unknown parentage egg, you can't go by feather length and leg thickness. I think she is just more sturdy than dainty.

Pat is pure Buff Orp. And the owner of the parents said her girls are hefty. I've looked at this chicken for weeks and go back and forth. There are still feathers coming in around the neck so I was guessing rooster hackle feathers. But that darn comb is pink compared to all the other boys.

Sorry Nunny, but even if I said boy before if Pat looks like that now then Pat is a lady. Pat is a lady with big ole legs but a lady no less. I'll take a pic of Marlene when she's not naked, she looks makes Pat look dainty. I thought she was a dude until she laid.:lau
