Some baby pics....they're a little over a month now. :)

Look at the little crest starting!! :) This is either FreakFoot (who I actually named Peach) or BlackFoot. They are very hard to tell apart, except for their feet. These are the Serama X Silkie mix (or is it Silkie X Serama?? Silkie momma, Serama dad).

It's so hard to get a good picture (even with a new camera) because they move SO FAST.

Those two have really pretty coloring. It's going to be interesting to see how they wind up!

My naked puff was pecked at. She had a bloody clot on one of her wing feathers. I cleaned her up and she's caged in the coop now. She must have been miserable b/c she let me hold her for at least an hour. Normally she doesn't even let me look in her direction. She's not at all happy w/ the arrangements though. She looks horrible. The entire time she was outside she was side stepping, afraid someone was going to peck her. I broke open a bunch of her pin feathers so she's looking a little better. I'm hoping she'll fill out enough by this weekend that I can let her loose again.

I got some rat traps. It hailed Sun night so it tripped one of them. It ate the peanut butter off the old fashion trap and walked away... I'm hoping I caught something last night. It's got tunnels all over the back area. No way to stop it from getting in... I just need to kill them.

I got one board up in the run.. hopefully some day it'll stop raining enough so I can get some more of this done.. I'm not holding my breath. Today is the only day of the week that's forecast not to rain.
Last winter/spring, When I was dealing with the famous filthy rabbit cages next door, I held my head up high and bought EIGHT of those big plastic rat traps at the store.
Not the ones that are all plastic like a toy, the kind where the strike bar is metal.
I got so disgusted with the rats flipping them over!
So I screwed some of them end to end on a 2x4 the width of the door to the run and the rest on a square board that I put under where the feeder hangs in the daytime.
It made setting them very easy.
Caught a bunch of those suckers. Mostly male. 1 big daddy and a bunch of juveniles. And 1 adult female about a week later.

So cute! I can’t wait to see them feathered out!

Thank goodness you found her naked butt! I know you were freaking out.:th
Just went out to sneak some extra food and water to naked-Amelia-the-exiled....and I couldn't find her! She normally runs right up to me as soon as I approach the back of the property and this time she didn't. I looked and looked and called and called. Finally, as I was crashing through brush with the whole flock in tow, I heard a soft chicken sound from beyond the fence line. Little goober managed to get through the fence into the neighbor's yard and couldn't figure out how to get back :barnie

The good news is Amelia is basically a small, feather, greedy little dog. So she followed my call all along the fence line until we got to the very back of the yard where things are more open. Then she let me coax her into jumping up to the top of a wood pile on the neighbors property, and I was finally able to reach over the fence to pick her up. Sweet little goofball.
