I am sorry Ruby :( We are all thinking about you sweet girl.

I don’t mean to be insensitive, but I have a question that I am sure someone can answer. So I have my 3 week old chicks in a Guinea Pig cage and it is suppose to be in the 20’s the next few nights. They are in the chicken coop. How high to hang my 250 watt heating lamp. I tried to use a thermometer, but not having luck. We have had warm weather so I have kind of been winging it. 4 are feathering out and 1 is smaller and behind.
I make a heating pad cave

Just popping in real quick!

I lubed up 1/2 my chicks' combs with Vaseline today. It is COLD, and getting colder all week.

I was cracking up while I was doing it, thinking, if somebody told me a year ago that I would be greasing up my chicks with Vaseline, I would be giving them the most clueless, -what-the-hell-are-you-talking-about??!! look. lol!

Anyway, hello and g'nite, and love to yas!

XO,
Cindi
Love this*

Learned hub's doctor is something that rhymes with bundt. Called here to leave a message made a huuuge deal about not being authorized to talk to me...i didn't ask the ding dong anything, except can i take a message? What gets into people?:lau

Funny... DHs nickname for me is Psycho Bundt.... heh heh heh....

I make a heating pad cave

I do too. We literally have 3 heating pads devoted to JUST the brooder..... we have about 6 of the same heating pads in toto.

My lamp is at 27 inches. It seems the low is only 29 tonight. The next 2 nights will be colder. Hopefully they will be fine. I don’t see me setting an alarm and running out in the middle of the night to see of they are under the lamp or not. ;)
They were outside in a large run in the cold all day today, but I did have a heat lamp they could get under if needed.

I thought thought @rjohns39 would have insight.
