The new director started today... of course I ran into problems installing his printer so I wasn't out of the way when he came in. Luckily he was 'moving in' so he wasn't in a hurry to get on the computer.
Also found out that my boss drug her feet so long on buying stuff that they gave part of our computer & software budget to someone else to buy furniture with. Hopefully it'll be a lesson for her, but I doubt it.
I took advantage of the beautiful weather yesterday and let the girls out for a bit. Poor Loki's crop is naked. She's a sad sight. Every time I try to get a picture she turns away in shame. They found tons of worms after all the rain, but now we're going to be going back to winter for at least the next week.

How funny! I just finished installing a printer on the network for The Chairs Assistant.

Budgets are sometimes like that here. The Deans office will take money we do not spend out of our accounts in July each year.

It is not an efficient way to use funds since things are often purchased that are not needed To avoid losing the account and making sure the budget for the next year is not cut

Apparently Windows 10 has a thing where it wants to block the installers for HP printers. Not sure if it does it to other brands as we typically use only HP printers. The solution involves running the installer from the temp directory and disabling the firewall. Not the best business practice. Even better is the fact that these printers have an installer built in, but when you try to use it you get an error saying it's unsafe to run & no option to override.

You know, it would be fine if that was the case b/c then we'd known, but usually it's a if we don't spend it by dec we lose it... I've been nagging my boss for months now saying we need to buy stuff and she just sits on it. She finally ordered a replacement printer and a new children's computer system but I have a feeling that was only b/c the branch that needed them was the one our new director was managing. I've got a list of software and equipment I've been asking for that we've talking about several times in the past year, but she never orders anything. She hasn't even looked up computers yet. It usually takes her months b/c she looks it up, gives us the paper and asks us which one to get, we tell her which ones to order and how many and why... then she doesn't do anything. Then a month later she looks them up again and they're no longer available and then she finds new ones, asks us about them and repeat forever. Meanwhile I'm sitting here on Fb, twitter, byc, & youtube for 7.5 hrs a day about 15 days a month, doing NOTHING b/c my boss refuses to do her job. Then when she finally does do it she expects everything to be done and ready to go immediately. I guess that's what bosses do. Windows 10 just came out w/ the new big update and she's like we need to get that out! I'm like No, I'm not dealing w/ that til January. I have 1 week before update week, then we're hitting the holiday. I *might* get a few computers in this building done while people are off, but there's no way I'm going anywhere right now. Then she's asking if she went too would it help get it done faster. The answer is no. A resounding no. I have a worksheet that says exactly what needs to be done on each computer and every time she helps she can't find anything even though it's on the sheet, then she questions each line and asks why. Then she'll see something that I don't turn off or on and she questions that too. So no... I don't need any "help"... I need software and computers. Do your job and I'll do mine! But I'd probably be unemployed if I said that.. or at the very least make for an uncomfortable work environment.

Wow!

I hope it gets better with the new Boss.

We use mostly Xerox printers here and they install fine--if not a bit weirdly in Win 10.
 
Although still being nice to me for some reason B. Pudding hates poor little Clayton. I’m apparently running thunder dome for chickens and she’s the reigning champ.

Hey guys,

Finished my first day solo at my new job, and it was nuts! We had a school shooting threat (which turned out to be nothing, but still. Alot of damage control needed). Friday we had an evacuation cuz there was a gas leak. It's crazy, but I really like it there!

But that's not why I'm writing. I want to get your opinions on something that happened with my DH's family yesterday that really, really upset me. And I am still upset about it, although nowhere near as much today. I only have one IRL frend who is still in NJ, and he's not answering my phone....so you guys are it! I value your opinion. I was so upset I was talking to my dead mother on the way home, although she is dead, so of course she did not answer me. But she was my best friend, and the person I always talked to....

Anyhoo. Story to follow.:barnie
