If you ever have a chicken perched on your hand? Ever notice how the feet are super warm? They are trying to conserve heat since they have lost some of their insulation. It also takes more calories for them to stay warm, and they don't want to move because it's uncomfortable so they aren't eating as well. It would be nice if they could molt in 80 degree weather.

I feel stalked. How did you know I logged in last night for the first time in months??? :D

Everything is going great here. Enjoying the sunshine, sitting on my son’s swing and watching the chickens enjoy their free time.

I have been thinking off and on what chickens I want next go around. The bantam welsummers and bantam easter eggers are too flighty, my blue favaucana is too vocal (same for ameraucana). I wish Silkies came in full size, I really enjoy them. I am fown to 7 and that is still way too much poop. 4 is a good number!

I have a few thread ideas that I was thinking of starting, but I didn't want to deal with the stuck-up crew coming in and arguing in it. It's a pity, really. Instead I stay in the chat threads and complain. :gig
You should start some threads!

I don’t understand the molting in the cold. Totally confusing! Since owning chickens, my new saying had become “it is hot as chicken feet outside.”:lau
