I prefer a local breeder over hatchery and hatchery over TSC. Most of my current flock came from fertile eggs, followed by breeding and hatching more.

How do you feel about the local farmers markets? I see chicks and livestock there and was thinking that might be where I go next time. I wasn't very fond of TSC myself.I prefer a local breeder over hatchery and hatchery over TSC. Most of my current flock came from fertile eggs, followed by breeding and hatching more.
Thanks for your advice. I'm really wanting to do this right. I would love the girls to have fertilized eggs and hatch them, but I don't know how to go about that process since I don't have a rooster. I'm learning...I'm kind of picky and prefer to meet on-farm, so I can see how they are kept. But I would still choose that option over TSC.
Thanks. Yes, it's not fun.So sorry....wry neck is a horrible thing to watch

The lady I have bought most of my chickens from, breeds Jubilee Orps. They are stunning......thanks for reminding me......now I want one of those too
