Well, my year is starting with calcium deposits in the tendon of my rotator cuff, which has caused some tendonitis, additional tendonitis in the same muscle, and a tear in said muscle. How did this happen, you ask....

Sleeping on a mattress that is a skeleton of what it once was. Why do we still have it? Cuz tattering DH would rather ignore the fact that we need a new mattress and spend the money on stuff her wants, like more guns.

Anyhow, ER gave me an Rx for tramadol, it was a waste of $ 0.85, doesn't do a thing for me. The sling does more, but basically it's like someone is digging a knife in to my shoulder, and then I get the dull pain and numbness down my arm, etc. So now I'm stuck sleeping in DD#1's room because it hurts to much to sleep anywhere else, and even then, it's not a full night's sleep. It's still better than getting maybe 20 mins at a time in my room. And I do have an appt next week Friday for my regular Dr, the soonest they had available.

How's everyone else's New year starting out?

I'm sorry to hear about your shoulder :( DH has trouble with his too. I know it's awful.

My new year is starting with a sore throat, runny nose and sleepless nights. The sleepless nights are my own dumb fault though for drinking caffeine too late. I'll be weaning myself off that though. On the good side, New Year's babies are bowling in the Bator :)

We hit a high of 14° today.
:hmm

Yup winter has hit.
Wow, up here it's been warmer than normal. NYE it was over 50 with the obligatory raining it's a$$ off all day long. The few souls who braved the rain snatched up some worms. Supposedly it's going to be warm again in a few days. This weather is ridiculous.. not that I don't mind the warm.. just concerned about the lack of winter.

Don’t bother. Just skip ahead! Happy new year!
Happy new year to you too! I skipped it all. 4 1/2 days is a lot to miss on here sometimes.

GAH! Sometimes, I hate being crunchy.

I really don't want to give Thing 1 normal plastic sippy cups because of the potential of the cups to leach chemicals that mimic estrogen in the human body into his water. That leaves stainless steel, glass, and silicone. All the stainless cups I've bought for him have silicone spouts and he has DESTROYED every one, chewed them to bits, and figured out how to dump water all over the floor. So, I've been letting him drink out of my water bottle with an inch or less in it. When he is done drinking, he still spills what he has on the floor and makes a mess. The last 2 nights, right before bed, he has purposefully upended the bottle into my lap with no warning.
:barnie:he:barnie:he

After an hour of internet searching I think I found a solution that should work. A hard plastic cap (made of a plastic that hasn't been shown to leach) with a silicone valve on the inside that will fit on the RIDICULOUSLY expensive glass bottles I got before he was born and never used because he refused to drink from anything other than the source.

Sorry, needed to vent. I love the stinker, but sometimes........
I hope what you found will work & his water spilling days are numbered. Transitioning to cups is so much harder than people ever let you know. I still tell my teenagers 'don't spill' when I hand them a cup.

Didn't intend that as a brag piece, I had raged against these "special schools," that try to scare parents into sending their kids there. I know others who had the same experience and stuck to their guns instead. I was a first time(only) mother and of course their words really frightened me. But I watched the things he could do at home & knew he was okay.
Pfsht. Brag away. It gives parents hope when they see their kids taking a bit longer to reach milestones. My oldest started out a struggling reader even though I had read to her since birth and we worked hard on sight words. She had to do title1 in 2nd grade and since then she's been advanced. I get that some things are seen as a disability and it's important that kids who need help get it, but sometimes it just takes some kids a little longer to catch on to things. I seriously thought my daughter might be dyslexic, but it just took her a little longer to catch on & after that she took off.

Well that sucks, but at least you finally know what the problem is. So what's the solution? Just wearing the sling til it feels better, pt, surgery?

So since my boss never spent the $$ we were budgeted it's gone. We now have new money, but if she'd have spent the $ from last year we would have had both. I've got 7 computers that are 10 years old, and another 16 that are 8*.. I *could* have replaced 10 of those, plus bought some new monitors to replace the pile of 15" monitors we bought in 2002. 25, 17 year old 15" monitors... there's no reason those still exist here.

This is kinda of funny.. this morning one of our tech serv (people who process books) staff came and told me the wifi wasn't working out front, but it was in the back area... I went to reset the access point up front and it was off b/c someone at reference had decorated & plugged xmas lights into the surge protector and instead of unplugging them, the turned off the surge protector.

Hey! Get a new mattress.
I know they are expensive which is why we had been putting it off for so long.
Ultimately, we decided to go for it and ordered one from Costco. The kind that comes rolled up in a box. The kind that’s all foam and no springs inside.
This was a gigantic leap of faith for us.
I’m still shocked at how a king size mattress can be rolled up into and put in a box!
We slept on it the same night it arrived.
It’s made a huge difference!

Our son was inspired and he ordered one for himself but he got his from overstock.com that got great reviews and he loves it!

They were a much more affordable option than buying a mattress from a brick and mortar store or investing in a high end temperpedic.

Good morning! Tried my best to get a little bit more sleep after I let the heathens out....yeah that was not happening. Hubs had to announce the mashed potatoes were going south, and Negan lost his mind and would NOT shut up because he saw a buzzard. :barnie

I will never quite understand why some men cannot just simply toss a food item if its old.
I wish I had a nickel for every time I have had to say "move the milk".
