Official Squatch Watchers

Do any of you have Wellsummers?

I have ONE welsummer. Sample size of one does not count.
Besides being an only she is from the tow yard chickens so really bad first year.

She is the last tow yard bird I have......she also does not lay.....at ALL.

Again rough first year and an only one so does not count.
:(

That sounds about right, it isn't water until its piney.
You got it jacked up on anything or are you afraid of water disasters?
First they did with pine shavings was fill their waterer! I want to switch to nipple waterers but don't want to do it now. Be my luck they won't figure them out and I won't know it cause I'm not sitting out there freezing my butt off to watch them.

It's on a cinder block. If I raised it much higher the little birds wouldn't be able to reach it. I've wanted to switch to nipples but didn't make the jump. Was going to this past spring but my heated waterer died in the middle of winter so had to buy a new one. Roughly $40 down the drain I didn't want to use for a few months then store it. So I kept it another winter.
I did buy the heater I need! I have to order the nipples. Need the sideways ones. Then put it together.... more projects!

Good lord, they just kick those shavings then huh?
Definitely save the nipples for warmer weather, don't know how smart yours are but mine didn't get them EVER so you do have to watch.
The derps did peck them and scream in their direction but not one solitary drop got drunk.:th

Horizontal is much better than vertical, unless you have the trays under them. My last batch of meat birds would pick a nipple and three or four of them would peck it constantly until a puddle formed in the bedding, then they would drink from the puddle. Every now and again they'd take a drink while pecking, but nope not gonna drink from them.

Fresh feed? That is a miracle right there lol!
Chick bins? It isn't chick time yet, still too early jumping the gun a little bit.:hmm
I had to get feed today.

They are already setting up chick bins at the feed store.
:th

The good news is the feed is really fresh! Mill date is just 10 days ago!
