Official Squatch Watchers

I finally got brave enough to look.....

It is 11° with 80% humidity. :barnie

I know many many people are far colder. For me this is tatering cold.
That 80% is the killer... feels so much colder

That 80% is the killer... feels so much colder

Being that we are basically a semi-arid state the humidity is certainly felt.

I will be scooping the coops today.......again.

They are reading 80% so not reading high at all but I am getting It's because the poops are frozen.
:hmm

My tsc has PDZ in two different places.
AND at two different prices.

One is with the chicken stuff and it’s outrageously priced.

The other is with the horse stuff, in a bigger bag and cheaper!
My store doesn't have the PDZ in the chicken area, just by the horse stuff in the 20 lb bags. I like how they have the small 7 lb bags of feather fixer for $10, but a 40 lb bag is $19. I guess it works for people who don't need a whole lot, but it seems wayyyy over priced IMO.

My store says it has some and there's nothing. The internet lies. There isn't even a sign for it. That's why I asked about it b/c I thought they'd moved it. Maybe they did and that lady wasn't told. I asked the cashier, but she had no idea.. not that I expected her to.

So I’ve been documenting Pat’s comb....
Day 2 of treatment (so actually 1 treatment, this is before I put more extreme care on) 1/26

OUCH!!!
This is today. 1/28 He has had it applied only 1x a day for 3 days.

I’ve also been rubbing it on his waddles which he dips in the water. And his earlobes just in case.
That's how Odin's comb would get. The back part was the worst. Make sure you get the waddles good. Odin's scarred and ended up cupping which made it worse b/c the water would sit in there.

Apryl, I got one of those for my grit and oyster shell too. It works awesome. You don't even have to put a separator in it. I just pour grit on one side and shell on the other. It mixes a little toward the middle, but they are smart enough to pick out what they need.

I'm sorry for laughing, but your root/shovel story cracked me up! especially "the contemplating all my terrible life choices" part, lol. That sounds exactly like something spazzy I would do, lol!
Oh good b/c I'm not sure at all how long this will last w/ the cardboard. They seemed all in for it though. Although I think they thought it was a treat b/c everyone wanted to see what was in it... they were disappointed. Then when I threw down some scratch it was a free for all. Combs were pecked and bleeding. There was plenty and all over the floor. I gave Olive some of her own and once they heard her pecking at something they attacked. Then I was hand feeding Olive & Toothless and they were both eating my palms. It was like a feeding frenzy. They're not starving... just psycho.
I thought for a second about using one for scratch when it's super cold, but they have a flock block and I'm sure there's plenty on the floor mixed in w/ the straw.. they just have to dig.

I think a significant portion of my life is 'well that just happened' moments. The other day I was backing down my parent's drive and slid off the side and got stuck in the soft snow. Tried to drive out and nothing.. My brother had to pull me out. Like nothing is a surprise anymore.

HAHAHA, I was literally about to type that same exact thing, when I saw you beat me to it. Duh, CUZ IT'S PAT!!! :lau

I love that gender-fluid chicken!

I had to lather up Negan's comb and wattles yesterday with Vaseline. For a non-cuddly cockerel, he seemed to like it entirely too much. Guess I'm a dirty rotten Wattle Fondler too now....:gig
Odin was a jerk face, but he'd sit calmly while I molested his comb and wattle. He didn't like when I apprehended him, but he sure didn't mind the application portion of the show.

Amazon baby! Order it.
Or do you have any pool supply stores in your town.

Any pool test strip has a chlorine square on it but id suggest only get the kind JUST for chlorine so he doesn’t start worrying about OTHER nine squares:lau:lau
@Chickassan My walmart still has pool stuff in the outdoor section. I think it's there all year b/c some fancy people have indoor pools and hot tubs. If not, x2 the amazon.
Also, don't dip the strip in the bottle. Tell him to pour a bit into another cup.

I posted a little while ago about using this on my face in this lovely weather.
I use it for everything really. Cuts, scrapes, burns, after sun care... comb and waddles.
I've put it in my nose when I'm stuffy yet manage to be dry. Helps clear the sinuses and keeps my poor nose from bleeding.

If you check out the site and want to order I have a coupon code. $8 off no minimum required. First 10 people to use the code get the $8 off.

I love the stuff. I use lots of their other products as well.
Interesting. My kid has a balsam of peru allergy and other stuff.. do you think if I emailed them they would tell me if any of that stuff is in it? I know some places don't want to give away their secrets...

chickens are the ones i feel sorry for :barnie

I will have to go out every half hour to keep eggs from freezing

still better weather than the northern states and canada
Same. I feel like a horrible parent... I *know* they will/ should be ok & other places have it much worse and people have chickens and they're outside and everything's fine... but I still feel bad & worry. And then you see those stupid commercials about bringing your pets inside and I'm like I CAN'T! No pets in my apt anyway, but even if I could, where am I going to stick 14 chickens? I really only worried about Ash and a little about William... everyone else seems super fluffy. I think maybe I'll break out the heat lamp tonight (secured) just to take the edge off. I know it's not going to make a huge difference, but it'll be something. Maybe instead of -10 it'll only be -8.

Um yeah, deep south it does not get much weirder.
Just gets worse the farther south you go....Florida does NOT need Disney world for entertainment i'll tell you that is a fact! :)
I may be able to top the tiger! I saw a guy who had a mannequin head attached to the hood of his car. I took a pic once, but IDK what happened to it. It was so weird.
And this happened near Columbus..

There's no shortage of weirdos up north.
Several years ago they started a thing where people had to register their exotic pets. We found out that a house near where I live & work had 2 cougars living in it. No one had a clue! Their yard is fenced, but nothing special and their back yard backs right up to the village park. I assume they were never taken outside. It's kinda sad.

We're all ready for this dose of winter & cannot wait for the weekend when 1st spring comes around. I cannot wait until they can get out to their big run again. They're all packed into the coop, they *can* go outside, but it's only about an 8x8 space that isn't covered w/ snow (which they won't go out in), & it's colder and windier out there. The 2 jerkface white ones are still feather pecking on Olive & Damon, but I can't separate them again until spring. IDK what happened, but as I was finishing up last night Ash flew across the coop and Toothless looked angry. IDK if Ash went after her, or the other way around, but Toothless is the one who's had the messed up comb & Ash has been sleeping up on the wall. I lubed up a couple combs that were looking questionable. Loki was not impressed, Willie & Toothless were down right angry that I put something on them & kept trying to shake it off.
I'm hoping the school closes tomorrow & Thursday. But look at this.
