Official Squatch Watchers

Honestly, I don't know if I need the "slightly graphic" warning anymore since I used a stand-in for the chick.

Maybe a disclaimer "no chicks were harmed in the writing of this article"

Well written and clear instructions Rae.

I now know stuffed bunny peeps bleed purple. :(

good article on culling, great to have to post for people in need...paper towel is good idea. I wasn't too happy when I did in a chick last spring, paper towel would have helped.
Yeah, the paper towel REALLY helps with disconnecting yourself from the idea that you are about to cut off a chick's head as well as containing the mess.

Yup! Someone gave it to Thing 1 for Easter last year. Don't worry, I didn't lop off it's head.
Serious question :
WOULD IT HAVE LOPPED OFF THE CHICKS HEAD? or just broken it’s little neck?
Because now I’m picturing the little head fumbling out onto the floor and the dog eating it....

I did it outside just in case
a scrap of skin held the head on.

If you use pruning sheers or kitchen sheers (not paper scissors), it will cut off the head. One nice thing, is the paper towel holds on to the chick's down for some reason and the head doesn't fall out.
