Not my thang, but you eat up!!!

I just wanna find a decent home for him. He's a good boy. :)
Totally understand. I was determined to find a good home for my Buff Orp rooster after I decided I wasn't going to breed Buffs because he was such a good boy. He didn't like being handled, but he was great with chicks, great with his ladies, tolerant of people and other roosters. A guy who had inherited a flock of Buff Orp ladies from his uncle (his aunt didn't want to keep them after her husband died) snapped him up. He got a good deal for $10.

If I ate chicken and he was a jerkface, I probably wouldn't have a problem eating him, but the killing part...I dunno.

My hubby totally wouldn't. Lately, it's hard to get him to eat chicken, unless it's covered with sauce (or doesn't look like a wing or a leg lol) and he's even getting weird about eggs.

Ya know, they're too....chickeny, lol! :lau

@Suzi18, I probably said this already, but thanks for the suggestion for the Cozy Coop heater!! It's wonderful. My Seramas love it. They all stand it front of it on top of the nestboxes at night like they're watching TV (i looks like a flatscreen TV for chickens) and no more frostbite since. Winner!:highfive:
I'm so glad your Seramas like it. It really does look like a flat screen tv. My 3 Serama roosters have big combs and they are all frostbite free. Glad I could help. :)

Morning guys! :caf

It's sunny but cold out, 21 degrees. Brrr. I am so ready for spring! Last weekend I went to Home Depot and bought a few houseplants just for some green.

I rehomed one of my cockerels (they're starting to fight) wiith the guy two houses down. So far he seems to be getting along great with his hens, I'm so glad! Now I have to find a home for one more cockerel, Tio, and I should be good.

I put him on Craigslist, but the only responses I got were from people who don't know jack about chickens and either (I think) just want to eat him, fight him, or do Santeria with him. I've had two people so far that when I said "Tell me about your flock" they were like, "I don't have one, I'm just starting out." With a rooster. Yeah, right. One guy said he thought it would be a good pet for his kid, lol. :smack Next!

It's hard to find a home for roosters. I guess that's the downside of hatching your own. Both times I hatched I got more boys than girls.

I'll relist hm back on BYC (again!) and the NJ boards and see if anyone bites...
Thank goodness my 3 roosters are getting along........so far. I think it helps that its a father and his 2 sons si they have all been raised together. I also think Serama roosters are gentle by nature. :fl Hope it stays this way

Well, the water line is definitely damaged, but it is not the water company line, is the one that runs to someone's house, presumably ours. I'll have to call the water company back on Monday to see if they can tell me for sure if it's ours. I did find out that one of our other neighbors is friends with the new one, so I know how to get in contact with them now.

And yes, everything was clearly marked with flags and paint on the ground before they did any digging. That's why I was upset about losing power, and now finding out that the repairs to the water line won't be done by the water company.
Be careful if you're using that water for anyting food-related. I would be using bottled water or boiling it until the line gets fixed. I'm kind of annoyed that the construction people didn't make sure there wasn't other damage before they wandered off. They are the ones who should be liable for the repairs but I agree that you should get to fix who does it.

I eat the extras and that is my plan for extra cockerels.

It can be a chore though if you have a lot of them

Yes! Post a boil order. You could likely find one online and copy it as a joke.

Maybe post it on the neighbors house?
