Official Squatch Watchers

The coop is treated, just gotta do the birds.....that I refuse to chase all over the run to catch.

The plan is to use the headlamp after they have gone to roost, grab bird quietly, sit in chair, check feet, trim butt fluff, band one leg, put back on roost.

The banding is so I know who got treated. Next treatment the band gets removed once treated.

I will let you know if it turns into a flogging circus. :lau

There is a lake just 1/8th mile from us. We are definitely in the flight path to and from it.
We have doves, black cap chickadees, several types of finch, robins, jays, and some I haven't identified yet. Tons of birds here.

Hubby is going to remove the pine tree the doves nest in so that carrier is reduced.
Using the headlamp at night is a good way to go

My little Pearl got pecked in the eye or maybe poked it with a stick! I went out and she was standing on the woodpile looking all sad. I get close enough and see her one eye closed. It's all watery but I don't see any damage. A red spot just outside the corner of it. Put some eye ointment in it to be safe. Working on the small birds is way harder then working on the bigger ones!
Poor Pearl :(

Good afternoon! Finally got a seconds peace lol! Having fun with the derps, Rene has decided to be a walking broody hell beast.
Can't even look at her without her screaming and puffing. I'm just glad she's small.;)

And yeah, she's dirty she stays dirty!:barnie

Doing ok here.
I found that my cross beaked Orpington has mites last night. :hmm

That certainly did not make me happy. I spent a good portion of today cleaning, scrubbing and spraying the big coop. Tonight as they roost.....well let's just say they ain't gonna like me much. Since I have to treat them all I might as well trim nails and butt fluff too. :lau
Maybe I should take a chair in there too. :hmm

The bitty babies are doing well though.

How are all your pretty birdies doing?

You been gone a long long time. We thought you ran away from our crazy antics. :p
I know we are all glad you are back!
:wee
Sorry your chickens have mites! That is a pain. It can kill them if it is bad.

That poor baby needs lots of hugs.

Quilt top finished, working on the back.

Turned out really pretty Cappy!

Ok so 20 chickens treated. Used the powder since it got colder than expected.
NOT FUN!
NO NOT FUN AT ALL!!

Of the 20 birds only 5 went without a fight. I got flogged by at least 4 Australorp. I think I wore more dust on me than they retained.

I really really prefer the spray!

I did not trim fluff or nails tonight. I wanted OUT of the dust cloud.

Speaking of dust cloud..... :woot For 11 Windows and a fan in the doorway!
:th

The good news is I do not have mites.
