Official Squatch Watchers

I have one for the waterer, but cannot locate the other, so just using a cup for food.
When I put her in the small run, all she does is sit or stand. Does it hurt for her to move? She didn’t really eat this morning (I did not check her crop), egg and tune. There was some feed in her egg and tuna bowl from last night, and she won’t touch the food. You think it could be tummy issues? She is still passing blood.
If there is still bright red blood evident in the stool, there is still active bleeding happening somewhere... in the second half of her digestive tract.

My opinion is yes. That would make her still feel unwell/ have some pain/not feel like walking around.

Did you discontinue the corid or finish the full 5-7 day course?

Even with a negative pathology, cocci is still possible, just that no oocytes present or observed in that particular bowel movement.
Cocci are easy to spot. They literally look like a cheerio but if the coverslip is put on a slide that’s too wet they can “slide” way over to the edge of the field and get pinched and go unnoticed by a tech who’s only observing the center of the slide looking for the obvious.

Have you tried making warm mash, maybe with the goodies on top or mixed in?
How about yogurt or cottage cheese?

I know casportpony is a fan of cottage cheese in birds who have diarrhea. She says it binds and the probiotics help too. Although I’m not 100% sure all cottage cheese has live cultures in it.
I keep meaning to read some labels when I go to the store.

This is from this morning. She has had 2 other small poops this morning, one may have had a little red blood in it, but not like before. She didn’t eat much yesterday, which was probably good to give her GI tract a rest. For breakfast she ate buttermilk, greek yogurt and tuna. She would not eat the small amout of rice I put in there. She pecked at the feed and got a nibble or two. I will make her an egg for lunch. I started the Corid Thursday evening. She did take some time to preen herself this morning. Her comb and wattles are bright and pretty.
She has some odd jerky head movements. I am so hyper focused on her and looking for clues, I could be reading too much into them.

Nothing terribly exciting here this week. Went to a baby shower today and then made BLTs for dinner and custard for dessert.
:droolCan I have your custard recipe?
It’s one of my favorite things.
I was absent yesterday because in the afternoon I got invited to a play by a kinda sorta friend/acquaintance who called me said her mom ( 82 years old and a hoot) had bought a package deal for four shows throughout the season and had a “spare ticket , would I like to go”.

Except for the part where the friend turned out to be a terrible driver so by the time we got there I was carsick.
(Even on the best of days I’m not great in the backseat of any car)
Then before we got out of the car the mom told me how much “I owed her for her ticket” so thank God I had brought along some money.

Could you videotape the head movements?

I will try.

I was looking up the difference between custard and creme brûlée, I thought maybe the cooked sugar on top was the difference. I read the creme brûlée is richer. Last year I made a vanilla custard base ice cream for a boy scout trip. It sat in a cooler on ice for 3 days before they made it. :drool:drool:drool

The literal translation of Creme brûlée is burnt creme.
I thought it wasn’t related to the custard being cooked in a Bain Marie but just the torching at the end (the sugar)

If the Custard is cooked like a pastry creme is cooked, and beaten and thickened on the stovetop there’s a million variations.

Most call for Saran wrap to stop that skin from forming.

I’ll going to have to investigate the differences in this when I get a chance.

I have been known to just eat a bowl of pastry creme with a handful of berries on it. (Okay maybe lots of bowls)
Aside from it not being “set” it seems to me to taste the same.

One thing is off my to do list. :yesss:

I emptied a 4x6 planting box and got it moved into the chicken run.
It will be the permanent dust bathing box.
Now to work it around to where no one can get trapped behind it.
Then to fill it with dusting dirts.....

If the poo stays like that, try the other coccidiosis medicine.

This is from the Merk manual:

Folic acid antagonists include the sulfonamides, 2,4-diaminopyrimidines, and ethopabate. These compounds are structural antagonists of folic acid or of para-aminobenzoic acid (PABA), which is a precursor of folic acid. (The host does not synthesize folic acid and has no requirement for PABA.) Coccidia rapidly synthesize nucleic acids, accounting for activity of PABA antagonists. Although resistance to antifolate compounds is widespread, they are commonly used for water treatment when clinical signs are already evident. Diaveridine, ormetoprim, and pyrimethamineare active against the protozoan enzyme dihydrofolate reductase. They have synergistic activity with sulfonamides and often are used in mixtures with these compounds.
