The dang birds can be tatering frustrating!

As I went to get Miss May to cull her she was up and nibbling.
:barnie I wish she would decide whether she is going to put forth the effort to survive a bit longer or not!

Her poop that was thick yellow has been a one time thing so I second guess my belief that she is internally laying.
Hahaha! Yes, tatering frustrating. I just want to scream at her get better or don’t. Do something dang it! Haha! But I have not. I fed her this morning and just loved on her.
Looks like I will be taking her with me this weekend unless she starts eating better. I do trust my son to take care of her, if she is eating. But, my mother is law will be watching our son this weekend and she is another story for later, because I do have to complain.

OH dear.....:hugs

I know it is stressful, know that for a fact. No kidding Henny May and Marlene might be related.
I never seperate her because she'll starve her fool self to death even when she should be seperated.
She has good and bad days, more good than bad so I just do what she allows and hope for the best.:hmm
How big is it? It looks like some kind of parasitic wasp.
She sounds like Marlene, on death's door one day perfectly fine the next.:barnie

It is very stressful!
This morning she ate some scratch and a bit of boiled chopped egg on her own. When I separate her she adamantly refuses to eat but in the group she eats a small amount.
:barnie

Edited because autocorrect is stupid.
Not sure why the tater the quote is all messed up either....:hmm[/QUOTE]

Less than a month to go and I get a week by myself! Trying to get a grip on everything i'm going to need so I don't have to physically deal with another human being.
Just practice for my inevitable senile widow years, got to work on my "get off my lawn" delivery so it is flawless.
Hopefully it isn't like last time where everybody and their mama wants to come visit. Not being mean, but alot of my visitors are younger and have some dumb problems that are much too delicate for my old coot wisdom.:gig

Sort of in a pickle, not too bad though. I had to get the littles scratch and peck starter because chewy was out of browns and they don't like it at all.
Chewy has browns back in stock but until it gets here they're having to eat the big ones kalmbach, and that is kind of fine since the adults like the scratch and peck starter food.
Shouldn't be more than a few days, but it is a weird arrangement for sure. Technically I could go get some dumor but iv'e gotten so many funky bags i'm thinking i'll just ride it out since everybody is actually getting to eat.:)
We do fine with Dumor here but you never know!

Thursday while I was working in my veggie garden and the girls were out and about nearby something BIG flew right over my head and swooped upward right over the coop and snatched a pretty big baby squirrel right out of its nest.
The baby was screaming, the momma was screeching and fussing, my birds were alerting.... but none of them were moving.
It was a loud hot mess.
The hawk took it too high up in a pine tree for me to do anything about it. I can’t throw anything that high!

I shepherded my birds into their closed run and had to go inside for a while.

The sounds were too sad.

I get that it’s nature and the hawks have to eat too but I wish they’d do it in someone else’s yard.

As far as my girls are concerned, how heavy a weight can a hawk carry?
I realize the impact alone can kill or mortally wound a chicken, but I’m not joking my girls are beasts .

I’m so angry that my crazy next door neighbor :he had all her trees cut down because it has really decreased the number of ravens and crows on my end of the street. :barnie:mad:
Can you use a pellet gun?

Still have three that I have no idea on the sexes, two are the mixes the colors say female but they're mixes so I don't know.
One Faverolle is still kind of WTF too, i'm leaning towards male due to body size. Shoulder feathers are coming in dark brown not black though and it dosen't act roostery.
I'll get a more recent photo but it is the one on the left, right is Henry 100% boy.View attachment 1746873
Adorable babies!!!!

Good morning squatchers.

@Sassysouth I’m sorry she’s not turning around like you’d hoped.

@Anansi your words made me clutch my heart.

@FlyingNunFarm your mama looks so content.

@Chickassan Henry needs his own bumper stickers. He’s THAT cute.

@rjohns39 (and everyone)
Do you have any idea what this insect is?
Is it a flying ant of some kind or something in the wasp family? They keep showing up in my daughter’s apartment in TN.

Looks like a mud dauber to me. if it's huge it might be a queen looking for somewhere to start a colony. I had a queen yellow jacket in my apt once.. no idea how it got in, but I killed it to death.

They are definitely hers now!

And apparently the sound of peeping chicks triggers hormones in Bantam Cochins....I know have 2 more brooding. Way too young so I’m going break them. I just can’t believe it happened overnight.
Sorry to hear about your 2 babies. Did you ever find out what happened w/ Meyers?

Hi folks!

I've got a fun 2 days ahead of me. DH and MIL are going to PA so MIL can visit her mother (and do some shopping while they are there). They are leaving shortly and will be coming back tomorrow. I'll be here with FIL and Thing 1. My parents will be back sometime today. Thankfully, I'm not working today, so I can focus on taking care of Thing 1. Tomorrow, I'll be taking him over to my parents after breakfast so I can focus on work. I don't know if it is my tolerance or if it is T1, but he seems to be getting more needy recently and it makes it really hard to focus on working, especially when I don't have any help. My goal today is to try to take it easy (as easy as I can while taking care of a very active 2.5, almost 3 year old). I did way too much yesterday and was getting Braxton Hicks contractions every time I moved. That was not fun.
Hope things are going better for you & you're able to get some rest. Pregnancy is sooo much easier when you only have yourself to worry about, adding another kid to the mix def ups the difficulty level, esp when you get in the later stages.

:hugs For those who need it, :love for babies, & for foxes and hawks.

Klaus' toe looks really good after only a couple days of healing. I'm thinking her other toe probably took so long to heal b/c I didn't notice there was a problem and it was stuck on her foot by the tendon & kept rubbing against the open wound. Since I caught this one right away and it popped off and wasn't covered in poopy dirt for a while it's doing much better. She's not happy about the basement treatment, but is enjoying the pancakes she get to eat w/ her meds.
The poop butt puffy is getting a poopy butt again so I'm thinking she needs some yogurt later. She seems fine otherwise.
William is riding those spring hormones hard & keeps going after me. He's lucky he's tiny and cute.
I had an amazing week off work & didn't really want to come back. I talked to the director today and he's aware of the issues of getting my boss to do her job, so he's going to talk to her. It went much better than I had expected.

Oh, and I finally got a call back from my dr's office about my pulmonary function test, everything was fine.. Still no idea why I'm having trouble breathing and increased heart rate, but the message didn't say anything about seeing the dr again so I guess they're not too concerned about it. Stress & being fat.. can that be a dx?
