Of course May dosent mind, those kids bring in the good chow. :D
Still having a wonderful time with Lulu, she's using peaceful resistance as a broody tactic now.
I get her off the nest and she just refuses to move not one inch....until I turn my back.:barnie
I am hoping they liven up that coop. Those giant cochins are LAAAAAZZZZZYYYY birds.

Miss May doesn't seem to mind when a kid hides under her skirt.

Ya know......I knew yours are broody beasts but.....I really didn't think that through when I added them.....It could get interesting around here. :hmm

Soooooo I have a legit question.....
One chick has light coloring coming in on decent wing feather growth. The other chick has short wings and dark coming in........

Should I worry that I got a male? :barnie

Chicky is of course the expert, but from what I have read, it is really hard to breed salmon faverolles hens that are true to the standard. Dark leakage/ male color patterning seems to be really common in hatchery females.

:fl That I don't have a male.
They just aren't allowed here. :(:(:(:(:(

Don't worry about anything just yet. You have to remember Rene was black and brown, her early wing feathers in no way screamed girl.
No way to tell until the actual body color starts to come in, those wings will freak you out just don't look at those.:gig

Lulu not moving sounds like the broody pancake.

That's how I test level of broodiness.
#1 Remove from nest.
#2 Hold hen about 2 ft from ground.
#3 Drop....
If she lands and then puffs up "tuk tuk tuk", she's thinking about it.
If she lands and flattens like a pancake she's pretty serious.
If she lands, pancakes, then starts pulling stuff under her like she never left the nest.... you better get that girl some eggs to sit on!

If I dropped her i'd sting her belly she's that flat. The only way I see legs is picking her up, the second they touch floor they're gone.
Her and Rene neither one pull straw and stuff underneath when they flatten, instead they throw stuff on their backs like they just laid.
I'm betting nobody is surprised.:p
