The area of wasp happiness has been made FAR less happy!
I found their (surprisingly small) nest and unloaded half a can into it.
I then sprayed up under the edges of the siding on the house just in case. I had seen some checking it out but not entering.
The soffit of my shop got a dose as did the back of a planting box that sits close to the house. I don't find any other areas of possible habitat so I am optimistic that I got them.

In a few minutes I will be kicking the Bitty house birds into their run so I can get that dang nest box done.
It would be nice if either of the guys would help in the yard even a little. I can see that is just not going to happen.
If I screw it up to bad I will be headed to see Benny for another piece of siding.

Morning Bob.

I am ok. I can still feel every sting.
I was watching the area yesterday and even after going medieval on the area there were a lot still flying around.
I will be back out there with spray and see if I can find the nest directly.

I plan to use extreme prejudice in dealing with them.

They aren't yellow jackets. :hmm

I will wear long sleeves, heavy denim and gloves this time. :p
Did you take Benadryl? I have been using ACV on bug bites, idk how it works on stings

Yes to having taken benadryl and yes to vinegar. I used the distilled white but it works pretty well.
It took the immediate intense burn out of it and within a few minutes most had completely stopped burning. I can still feel each sting spot but it is more like a sore skeeter bite feeling today.
The nasty things got me ten times on bare legs.
:barnie

Danged, that is awful! When I was a kid my friends and I blundered into a yellow jacket nest! They stung us to bits! We ran all the way home.

I remember being like 5 years old and a yellow jacket went up the back of my shirt stinging the tar out of me.
They are horrible things.

I think I got that nest of them killed this morning. I have been outside so have been watching and not seeing activity.

Getting stung on tender young flesh sure sets a dislike for them in one's head.

They are about the only thing I break out heavy duty poison for.

It it a surreal day for me, nearly seems like a dream.
I have my first brand new vacuum cleaner, yep out of a sealed box not just new to me only took 23 years.
Iv'e been expecting it for a week but kept quiet, didn't want to jinx it lol!
Hubs of course got it free, it was a work award but whatever, old one literally caught on fire so i'm not knocking how he got it.
It is a hoover wind tunnel 2 rewind and i'm literally afraid to use it due to how freaking long it would take to get another if I kill it.:gig

It is hot and humid here. :sick
I got the nest boxes installed and yes it involved a sledge hammer.

I will go take a picture in a bit. I have to cool down some and Havoc needs to deposit her egg.
It is not perfect but it is functional. :p
