Whew... Thanks Everyone. I know I don’t need another dog. I was telling myself it would be good for Zoe but honestly it could go terribly wrong.

No dog was my vote too. Sometimes you know the answer, you just need someone else to confirm it.
How's the awesome camera working out?

Literally, two of my favorite things



Female golden laced bantam cochins (3), female barred bantam cochins (3), female buff bantam brahmas (3), and 5 “blue egger female surplus” which is supposed to e a mix of at least 2 colors of ameraucanas and/or cream legbars. Also ordered a couple red sex links for my MIL.

If all birds survive the trip and are actually female then I will have more birds than I need or really have room for. So I may be selling or giving away some when they get close to POL. But I am so excited to have chickens again. I wanted to make sure I have some healthy females of all the breeds/colors I wanted. Plus ya gotta meet those order minimums, right

Oooo! Can't wait to see pics. Hopefully they make it alive. Where are they coming from? If you end up w/ more than you want to keep you can pick and choose your favorites & get rid of any jerks.

Toothless finally stopped laying completely. I switched them back to layer feed though b/c the others should start laying again soon & I found a soft shell on the poop board last week. I'm going to drop some poop off at the vet in the morning to get a float done so I can treat everyone before they start laying again.

I had put a few mouse traps in the sick cage & caught a mouse that had been squatting in the coop. I'm hoping I can use that method to catch any others that are lurking. I cannot wait to do a full clean out. The mouse poop is really ticking me off.
Everyone seems to be doing well otherwise. It's been a weird barely a winter so no frostbite this time. We'll see what happens over the next few weeks. They're saying 50 on Monday so I'm not expecting much in the way of a deep freeze any time soon.

They are cochins....no jerks.
At least I have never found a jerk in the lot.

Making notes....never buy another cochin.....they will all be taterheads.

In 3 hours I will be taking River for her every other Friday visit to the bodyshop.
It is a huge disruption to the daily schedule....but emerybody lurves the wrinkle queen. It keeps the peace at home too.

Yes they are! Only for certain colors and I think they only guarantee 80% accuracy...but still! Female fluffballs will be coming my way soon

I bought them from Cackle. First time ordering from them but they had sexed bantams so that is a big factor in their favor. Yes it will be nice to have some options for sure. Especially among the blue egg layers. I don't need all five and hopefully some at least will be friendly and not cause too trouble. Crossing my fingers that everyone gets here safe!

I had a hatchery LF cochin that was kind of a taterhead...but everyone that has banty cochins seems to adore them so I am very very excited. I am less sure about the temperament of the ameraucanas. Never had one before. If they cause too much trouble though I can separate or sell a few of them. I really want some color in the egg basket though and having a few full size eggs around would be nice for baking. Hopefully the bigs get along with all the littles

I've been buying the wrong kind of chickens. They have feathery feet so I've avoided getting them though. Maybe some day I'll be brave enough for a big fluffy butt chicken w feathery feet.

I have easter eggers which are kinda like generic Ameraucanas.. 1/2 were friendly & nice, 1/2 were jerks to the other chickens & not very people friendly unless you came bearing food. They lay beautiful eggs though & were wayyyy less mean than production girls. They've lived longer too.
