I need everyone to talk me out of adopting a dog!

So I have 13 year old Chihuahua and an 8 year old Australian Cattle Dog. He is great. (Except when he poops in the house) She is beast. I love her. She really can be a good dog. The problem is her energy level. It's high and I don't always have the time to run her like crazy now that I live alone. (The ex and I would both take her out, now its halved basically)

Someone shared a post with me about a cattle dog up for adoption. She is almost the same age as my girl. I know they do better in pairs in general because it's the same thunder dome mentality from both dogs. I obviously don't know how well they or my other pets would get along. (Cats are already segregated because current cattle dog won't play nice)

Its $100 to adopt her. Then the cost of adding another dog. I know I shouldn't for financial reasons alone. I've seen other dogs for adoption and had no problem passing them up. This one is sticking with me though. Its just crazy to even consider but I can't help but wonder if having a dog her speed would be good for my girl.🥺🤔🤪😑

It certainly could. :hugs

I spend my days having to closely watch in case a fight breaks out. My 3 get along well but add the Malamute and it is very tetchy. I have had to physically grab her to drag her off Sable.

With your older tiny dog.....I wouldn't risk it.

Female golden laced bantam cochins (3), female barred bantam cochins (3), female buff bantam brahmas (3), and 5 “blue egger female surplus” which is supposed to e a mix of at least 2 colors of ameraucanas and/or cream legbars. Also ordered a couple red sex links for my MIL.

If all birds survive the trip and are actually female then I will have more birds than I need or really have room for. So I may be selling or giving away some when they get close to POL. But I am so excited to have chickens again. I wanted to make sure I have some healthy females of all the breeds/colors I wanted. Plus ya gotta meet those order minimums, right ;)
