My feather footed have not struggled with the wet cold winters. I have always had a few in my flocks.

I was out throwing the ball for the dogs....someone in my hood has a crower. I hope they don't ruin it for all of us.


For real a rooster is no louder than a mid size barking dog. I certainly don't mind his noise.....hoping others don't mind either.

I don't see how people can be ok w/ dogs barking but not roosters. I know William crows more if I'm talking which reminds me of a dog. Fortunately no one's ever complained about our boys that I know of... not that it matters since we're in the country.

Ugh, another dead chick today. I took the others and put them in the brooder.

Any idea what's going on? Is it just too cold for them?

Morning everyone.

We should be very warm today with a forecast 70°.
Tomorrow we are supposed to go back into the freezer. Tuesday going into Wednesday has the temp in the negatives.

We got that same weird weather. Warm yesterday and today, then rain over to snow tomorrow and down into the 30's for the rest of the week. At least we got to see a bit of sun, but this is sure getting old.

I have a little one, but my friend got me this for xmas! I love it.

Today I did a lot of prep before our temps plummet.
Both coops for a full clean out. The big group got to roam the yard while I cleaned.
The only thing left to do is to drop the run plastic on the hoop run tomorrow.

Jealous. I need to clean out my coop, but it'll have to wait until the next warm spell.

Got the roof on the packing crate coop today!

Whelp! The rain during the night coated EVERYTHING in 1/8th thick ice. Coop handles, stairs, concrete, cars, grass, all fencing EVERYTHING is covered in ice!

I got the cover down on the Bitty coop. The clips were harder since they were froze in place. I only broke one.

It is coming down pretty hard now.

I COULD if I had online banking set up with each place. I could pay by phone....if I wanted to pay fees for each place.
The other frustrating thing is hubs payday should have been Friday.....pay is late. We are drained severely by all the vet bills we had. No hubs work does not offer direct deposit. I need that check in the bank because everything is due this week.
The guy that bought the enclosed trailer is paying this evening and picking up the trailer. That means that money isn't here yet either.

It is just a big pain in the butt.
Hubs boss better get it together today. He was 12 days late with payroll before. That just doesn't fly with me.

I think I'd have beaten his boss to death by now. Is the company having $$ troubles, or is it just that his boss is lazy? If it's that he's lazy it's horrible how out of touch he is that he doesn't realize his employees need $$ to pay their bills.

I think I'd have beaten his boss to death by now. Is the company having $$ troubles, or is it just that his boss is lazy? If it's that he's lazy it's horrible how out of touch he is that he doesn't realize his employees need $$ to pay their bills.

When he was 12 days late it was drama related. The payroll person was married to owners son, going through divorce stuff at the time and has a history of not showing up for work. Owners son is (on paper) a co-owner and fights owners need to fire her. Owner kept waiting and waiting for her to show up to do payroll. At day 10 he gave up and spent 2 days figuring out the paperwork. Owner has taken over payroll.....but is in his 70's and not as in top of that and everything else he has to do at the same time. I give him credit as pay has only been late a couple times since he took it over.

I got 90% of my running done. I had to come back home because of dog schedules.
I will finish errands later.

My car looked like a raspberry skittle. My side mirrors never did thaw a bit. Totally unusable but I was careful, made no lane changes, pulled in where backing was not needed etc.

Can I have yesterday's 70°'s back please?

It will be ok.
I miss working outside the home. The income is sorely missed. I will get there again.
My health issues are getting a lot better. I still have awful days and days when I push through the pain just to pay for it later. If I had to do that every day I know I couldn't....yet.

Thanks Cappy. I have 6 weeks before my next doctors appointment. The side effects from the meds are less now and I do expect a reasonably good visit.

So very true! There is an insane number of employees who cannot seem to get it together. It was an issue where I worked....still is. It is an issue where hubs works.


I got that last bill paid....and screwed up our internet too.
The bill said we had an inactive modem that was a rental....said to return it to remove that charge. The gal I talked to said she would remove it from the account and to just return it to her within a week.
Turns out that IS the one we are using. There are 3 showing in their system. Two that we own and the rental......my son said the other 2 are ones my daughter had stuck in there years and years ago.
Chit! I don't know that carp!

I'm way, way, waaay late today lol!
It has just been one of those days where iv'e had zero time since I literally rolled out of bed.
Overslept "again" and had to hurry and get my crap together to go get my ID renewed, today was the last valid day and I did NOT want that thing to expire.
While I was out somebody came by and left the gate open so front porch was packed with naughty, derpy chickens.
Needless to say poop everywhere but at least nobody got hurt.
Guess im going to have to padlock it and hope the power company guys and cable guys don't skip leg day.
Tried to peacefully eat lunch nooo such luck.
A hawk, albeit an itty bitty one landed on the run so yeah no quiet sandwich for me.
Top it off the weather is weird, it is still 70 degrees here ive still got the windows open.

Morning everyone just waking up.

COLD and snowy here this morning. We needed the moisture that is trapped in the snow. It is a snow boots kinda day.
I do not have to drive anywhere so that's good.

Hoping everyone gets to have a good and safe day.
